Will the Anglo-Saxon world and France always be suspicious of each other?

England and France haven't really got along since old Billy got Harry shot in the eye in 1066. It's his own fault for making his Norman mates the top brass instead of working with the locals.
We end up with these castles popping up everywhere and he didn't even use local labour so the English unions were pissed off too.
The problem I've got now is watching Ivanhoe I don't know who to cheer for. My mum's family came over with Bill and my dad's were mates with Harry. It's all very confusing 🤣🤣
Possibly and maybe because France is a land power with different concerns to those of us with sea borders. The UK and France might have a reflexive 'what are they up to' responses from long tradition :).
On my side of the world, we don't harbor any suspicions towards New Caledonia at all. Older generations are stilled pissed at nuclear testing though.
It's only the English gammons who have an issue. But they have an issue with everyone outside their own street

I'm sure it's all gonna be, like, super clear and stuff if you just, you know, check out some other stuff that's out there, maybe something with some cool maps and old pictures, and it'll probably explain everything in a way that's pretty easy to understand, so yeah.
Everyone will always be suspicious of everyone
Any country that blindly loves thy neighbor is not gonna last very long on the map
I would say things are far less dramatic now than they were during other ears of human history
Hopefully over time.
I think things have improved at least slightly since the Napoleonic wars.
Well I feel like the US is kind of an outsider compared to the other Anglo Saxon nations as well like the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
I think we are more distinct in accent and culture and we left earlier.
Ireland might also be outside as well.
I think with Brexit some want a sort of Anglo economic alliance CAUZUK but it excludes the US like the commonwealth.
It’s hard to tell if Britain will try to go that way.
I mean William the Conqueror who was French invaded England in 1066 and took the throne after he was successful and since then almost every single war between the 2 countries has been because of claims to each others throne so yes there will be distrust between the 2 it’s just a matter of understanding the history
We really aren't, even now. Sure, we make fun of them, but it's only in the same way that the English and Scottish have a friendly rivalry with one another.
That's what I think too. There's nowt wrong with a little poking the flank. As far as it just tickles.
@julie4 Maybe it's more likely that both countries will always view "newcomers" on the global stage the last 100 plus years more suspiciously like new island nations, new republics, that didn't exist in 1900
@julie4 even china had a monarchy in the 1900s early and even Israel seems like it's a ally however
Or Allie I can't spelt lol 😆
Thinking back to Americans' actions and reactions prior to the unnecessary invasion of Iraq in 2003 it's more an animosity of the American part out of the whole Anglo-American block.
No. I don't think so. There hasn't been a major conflict between the UK and France since the 19th Century. It's pointless now.
Yes because they are all filled with Immigrates that have never trusted each other anyway and are only loyal to the countries they came from. They never fully trusted each other even when they had a unifying values.
I wasn't aware they were suspicious of each other these days?
My understanding is that the distrust is mostly meant in jest these days.
As long as France keeps trying to get Britian's fish yes.
@MuddyMole I was referring to recent affairs where France excluded Britain from a spending bill because they wouldn't share their fishing rights a few months ago. For the record I support Britain in this. It's their territorial waters by international law and further the oceans are being overfished as is and letting the EU fish in Britian's waters too was decimating the fish population in the area. This isn't just about fishing rights it's about keeping the damn ocean alive.
I have only ever seen this rivalry perpetuated by the English in the modern day in age. And only a few ultra British brits. Not your average every day Englishmen.
Out of all the things going on in this world you come up with this?
I'm not suspicious of you. Are you suspicious of me?
Suspicious? I don't know. Rivals? Yes
Just Frances's obsession with us.
Well i would suck them both
France? You mean new Arab africa?
Why would they both countries are allies
Very likely yes!
