For many Catholics, yes. I myself have mixed feelings about Popes in general. They represent a leader of the Catholic and some Christian religions, but some people look to them as gods. I don't feel that way.

I do understand that Pope Francis was very much in alignment with the LGBTQ community and felt God loves all people, that they should be accepted everywhere; that is what I liked about him. The two contenders up for Pope in Amerika, has one who feels the same and the other who is against the LGBTQ. I hope he doesn't get it.

Not my Church, not my problem, I only hope that the next pontiff is more down to earth, is a bit more orthodox, and focuses on the churches problems.

Just as I wish the Church of England had a Archbishop who was more down to earth, is a bit more orthodox, and focuses on the churches problems. instead of being focused on the Woke/ Multiculturalism/DEI bull shite, along with a Monarch who is supposed to be the 'Defender of the Faith' who is more focused on every other faith, excluding Christianity.

@Sal_Monella If You want to drain the swamp, We'd need a Pope like Benedict XVI. He was down to earth A Pope like JP2 would be too soft on the swamp creatures, and I'm saying it being Polish. He'd be gentle and peace-seeking at a time when we pretty much need the Holy Inquisition to be reborn.

I am not going to get long and prophetic here, but the Battle of Armageddon in the end times is not going to be between communism and the West. It never was. It is going to be between Christianity and Islam. And those days are already upon us. At present, neither Catholics nor Reformists do not have the balls to combat Islam. We are all too concerned. with personal salvation and counting money. We are going to need religious leaders that step up and realize. that the fight is coming.

In the perfect world of my making, I would like to see a Pope who is extracted from the Philippines or Nigeria. Because those people know what's going on.

No, there are other religions that don't do this when a leader of their denomination dies. Also, many did not agree with his beliefs (religious and political)

Everyone dies. As an acknowledged leader, his death should be treated the same way as the death of any world leader. He was, after all, the leader of a country, Vaticsn City. Catholics will treat his death differently than the general public.
