Should airline passengers be trained for emergency situations?

USA does school fire drills, tornado drills. Used to do nuclear disaster drills.

Do you really think the people sitting in emergency rows meet even basic criteria... in reality... listen to the brief training and know how to open the door, get their stuff out of the way... quickly? Should they, and others be trained?

I've sat in the emergency row, and I would be the last one out. But then I'd probably do the same even if I weren't in the emergency exit.

Should passengers be trained? Do you mean the thing they do at the start of the flight? It's kinda silly, but would you know about that stuff if they never did it? It doesn't hurt to know. The people who have seen it a hundred times quit paying attention long ago. But it doesn't hurt anything "just in case".

A million in one chance happens a millions in one times. How much worse would that one time be without the instructions?

You are sacraficial person, many peopel that sit there... I'd question their strength and do they really know how that door opens, weight, etc? they get those seats for the leg room!
Training... we do practice drills to evacuate buildings, there's first person shooter training for some. In a real emergency... would people really know where to find their life vest in a hurry with everything flying around and water flooding in? Training makes success. I wonder... how many that went down at Regan... drowned, could have survived or other accidents?

Emergencies are managed by the flight crew. Passengers help out. They don't need any special training.

hey are at the beginning of every single flight. that's what the pre flight instructions and information are.

Would only make sense if you train them to parachute and your plane comes with a jump door and has a enough low stalling speed.

bro use your brain, if I’m flying 2 hours I’m not sitting through an 8 hour course on how to act when I’m flying towards the ground at 550mph. It is brain damage level stupid. “What if the course is shorter” anything over 20 mins isn’t feasible, and you aren’t learning shit in 20 minutes, it’s a stupid pointless useless idea waste of time and a monumental waste of money. You were not onto something here.
