Why do people obsess about high IQ?

if you think about it average means just that average. and society is built for the average to be OK, so you are not going to be fighting an uphill battle. so your intelligence is probably as large as your pockets

I’ve always stood with this belief and I will preach it some more, IQ & Grades & Tests don’t necessarily showcase intellect.

They don’t showcase common sense or street smarts.

All test grades showcase is how you can utilize short term knowledge presented to you then shove it away for the next short term knowledge then at the end of the year / rest of your life, you won’t remember a single piece of the thing.

IQ showcases intelligence on average, though leaves out a lot of gaps where someone may not be the smartest out of the bunch.

Common sense & street smarts & utilizing your individual interests and personality to achieve your goals whether short term or long term for economic success I’d say are more valuable than all those combined.

We can all strive for more knowledge in our personal lives, allowing ourselves to be more creative, allowing ourselves to achieve greater things in our interests, etc. So don’t base intellect or intelligence just on IQ, Test Scores, or whatever alone and see the greater picture because everyone has something they are good at and it doesn’t end on one bad school year or IQ Test when you were 12.

Because it's worrying that average are so illogical, you can prove people wrong on here with a fact that easy to look up and they still argue with you than go 'Oh my bad your right'

I've had very few times I've admitted they were right, but the difference is I have done it. Many here never have. And that's how you tell there is intellect difference as someone higher ain't afraid to admit when wrong or they didn't know something.

I've know a lot of very hi IQ people and the one thing I notice is that they never talk about there IQ or act smug or superior about being smarter than others.

What i have noticed about a lot of people who talk about their IQ, act superior about their IQ, insult or put others down about having a lower IQ is that most are actually average or low IQ themselves and they maybe feel a little bit inferior about their IQ and need to feel superior to others.

Whenever someone starts attacking your IQ it usually means they are projecting. It's the go go move on gag when someone can't debate you or cznt accept an opposing view. These people like to feel superior, like the big fish in a small pond. Whenever they meet someone on their level or that is smarter realising that they are now the small fish in the big pond and it scares them.

I have never been the sharpest knife in the drawer. It always seemed like I had to work a lot harder than other people. Everything I got was not though finesse but was just simple brute force.

What I remember from the test is that the questions were mostly things that anyone with basic knowledge would know. But the last few questions were really obscure, like asking how many people could define 'ominous' or know the length of the equator. People’s idea of "smart' is probably what’s 'normal,' but what’s actually 'smart' is probably someone who's very smart. To score higher tests you have to really perform. Good grades is just remembering material, so obviously for that all you gotta do is study a lot. Either way a normal person is going to be just fine functioning in this society
