Donald Trump Says He Is Renaming Veterans Day?

Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he's naming May 8th as Victory Day for World War II and November 11 as Victory Day for World War I. However, some veterans’ advocacy groups said the focus of the new names on winning overlooked veterans who served in more recent wars that had more mixed results. “It is not the veterans’ fault if we don’t win wars,” said Allison Jaslow, the chief executive of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, who also served in Iraq. She added that “Veterans Day should be an acknowledgment of the ways that fellow Americans have served and sacrificed to protect and defend what we have in America.” A spokesman for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a nonpartisan advocacy organization created in the 19th century, said the group had reached out to the White House to clarify Mr. Trump’s plans and inform the president that it continued to endorse having the holiday honor the service of all veterans. The U. S. didn't win WWI or WWII single handedly. Russia played a bigger part in defeating Nazi Germany than did the U. S.
And what about how we got our asses handed to us in Viet Nam and Afghanistan? The soldiers who fought in those wars deserve recognition.

Veterans Day and Memorial Day should be for solemnly remembering the sacrifices made by all our veterans, not for celebrating U. S. victoriousness.

He's just fired thousands of Military veterans so why doesn't this surprise me? He doesn't care for vets because he bailed out of military service for BONE SPURS he got his family doctor to write him off being called up. Trump is scared that he will be (rightfully) blamed for the poor state of the economy and political chaos so he has launched another stupid culture war to try distract and drum up support. Of course he does it in the most retarded way possible since he based the WW2 memorial day on the end in Europe which means he unintentionally excluded everyone who fought against the Japanese. In an attempt to pander to veterans he accidentally spits in the face of veterans because he can't tell the difference. Classic.

No, I don't support the Orange Imbecile, President Bone Spurs, the Draft Dodging Coward In Chief, fucking around with Veterans Day or Memorial Day.

First, the people who established those holidays got it right. Single days to recognized everyone who has served or will serve and everyone who has died serving or will die. Including people like me who were involved in an endless string of nameless undeclared wars most Americans are completely unaware of.

Second, what are we gonna do, establish a day for every war the US has initiated or been involved in? We'd need years to have thousands of days. Or are we just gonna say a few wars mattered and the rest were all mistakes, unimportant, and the people who served in them were all suckers and losers as the Coward In Chief asserts.

I voted for him to secure the border and deport illegals, build the wall, set it up so that our country cannot be overrun by foreigners again, they cannot vote in our elections, to stop all of this trans stuff where men get to compete against girls and changed with them in the locker room, get the inflation down. We'll see if the USA can get all of these trade deals. We'll have to wait to see how that all turns out, it will take a while.

I think celebrating our victories in addition to our veterans would be a good idea. Was November 11th our victory in Europe or our victory over Japan? Which ever one it is we could switch our celebration of victory in WWII to the other date and continue celebrating veterans on the 11th.

Which means that Trump has just disgraced everyone who fought against the Japanese.
