does having served your military duty count as being "a veteran" even if you were never deployed in any sort of combat?

  @SaoirseS yeah i know. but still germany had no national pride since (outside of the soccer world cup). if you show national pride, saying you're proud to be german, waving a german flag, people think you're a nazi. i guess that all connects with the fact that military isn't appreciated here.
