Many USA Americans, ESPECIALLY MAGA, have a child's view of patriotism and an often toxic strain of nationalism and worse, they don't understand the difference.
Patriotism is NOT standing for the anthem, parades, thank you for your military service, flying the flag and definitely not the creepy authoritarian pledge of allegiance in schools. 🥶
Patriotism IS paying your taxes, voting, protests, marches, contacting your reps, running for office, volunteering in your community or a campaign, gathering signatures, staying informed and KNOWING YOUR RIGHTS when Johnny Law starts poking around.
Don't even get me started on nationalism...
Feel the hate. I love hearing from you. You give me balance. It is nice to hear from people who oppose everything that is good.
Yes, the majority for small business owners, first responders, union guys, military and truckers are all Trump supporters nd 99% of them pay taxes. Guess how much welfare recipients. illegal aliens and drug dealers pay in taxes? They are all democrats.
Trump won because his people turned out in droves. They knew the stakes.
There are some that should be universal.
*Balancing the budget except In times of war.
*Only granting Immigrants entrance when they have handled it legally Or have been granted refugee status after a hearing.
*There should be an annual limit. on all immigration.
* Every spending. building should be measured. by whether it benefits American citizens and national security.
* America can only have peace when its military is the strongest compared to our adversaries.
* Sane, law abiding Citizens owning and carrying firearms is a Constitutional right not to be denied or regulated.
* There should be no laws or regulations with respect to. the establishing of religion or the free practice of it. That includes, for example, prayers before high school football games and Nativity scenes in the town square.
There are no doubt more.
Patriotic people tend to lean toward the rules of the land.

People who feel the need to call themselves patriots (in America, at least) tend to be on the right, but they're patriotic in the same way those same people who call themselves Christian act as Jesus taught.
Patriotism is “My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.” US senator Carl Schurz, 1871
“My country, right or wrong' is a thing that no patriot would think of saying except in a desperate case. It is like saying 'My mother, drunk or sober.'” G. K. Chesterton, 1901.
They are NOT 🚫 patriots. They are nationalists in the right. They don't know the difference
@DrPepper12 Feel the hate!
Thanks for clarifying who's a girl and who's a guy in these pictures.
You find patriots in China, Russia, North Korea, U. S. of A. and pretty much elsewhere as well.
What they all have in common is not a political direction, but rather that they gave up seeing themselves as individualistic thinkers.
Both sides claim to be patriots, however I see an imperfect understanding of patriotism. The leftists are patriots, while the right wingers are nationalists. It's pretty clear whrn you look at how the right wing views other countries. Nationalists say their country is better than another one. It's all about beating other countries. Patriots seek to better their country regardless of whether or not it is better then another one.
They tend to be right-leaning. Patriotism requires a strong sense of national identity and a belief that coming from a specific country carries a certain exceptionalism.
@Twalli Patriotism and Nationalism are pretty closely tied together. Patriotism is love and devotion to one's country. www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/patriotism While nationalism is the elevation of what makes that country worth fighting for.
Patriotic people tend to be fascists as well. Patriotism is an excuse for fascist beliefs.
In my experience I see that most patriotic people lean to the right.
Patriotic people tend to be xenophobic
Yes, America First
Yes the origins of that slogan deserve more inquiries
@DrPepper12 It is just what it sounds lke.
Indeed. Based on nativism & KKK in the 1920s
@DrPepper12 It is based on national pride and common sense.
