What’s something you wish people understood better about you without having to explain it?

The 2 questions I hate most are probably the first 2 questions out of most people's mouths. Where ya from? What do you do? Sounds pretty innocuous right.

Well I have an unusual background / life. People tend to get confused when I tell them the truth. Like, "I'm not really from anywhere". Then they get intrigued and often react strongly when I tell them the "what I do" part. Which forces me to go into a long explanation to make them understand something they've never experienced or encountered in another person.

So I have 3 options...

1.) Lie. Tell them something innocuous and boring they won't question or get excited over. But I don't like lying to people who mean no harm.

2.) Tell them the truth and go through the long explanations / endure their questions for the 10,000th time. It gets really tedious correcting their misconceptions.

3.) Simply avoid interacting with people at all in most cases. The easiest and least conflicted approach.

I relate to that! I’m def guilty of pull the strong independent woman card a bit too much.. ig I just hate being an inconvenience in any way shape or form.. it’s scary!
