A scientist can tell you how to build a nuclear bomb but the philosopher is better qualified to tell you whether to drop it.
Rich people tell the poor money doesn't matter because they don't want to pay them a decent wage. It's right up there with "be grateful with what you've got," and, "there's people worse off in Africa you know?" It's all about making you feel grateful for the scraps they throw you.
Money does matter, the fact I've a healthy bank account means I'm not living in fear of where my next meal is coming from or if the car needs new brakes next week. Ever noticed professional people don't date burger flippers?
If looks don't matter why do people pay a fortune for cosmetics and hairdressers? No one goes out in raggy stained clothes do they?
i actually go out in raggy stained clothes. like in the past 2 hours. but i don't want to be noticed.
If I have to, I'll say, "Well, it matters to me". And if I dont know the person well, I dont say anything out loud but I keep it in mind.
i take it you've learned from many arguments on the subject that it's hard to change this point of view
No, I know that dome people that I meet, don’t care about you or anyone else. So things that master to me and not to them, does not change my mind about something. If I have a reason to care, then I will continue to ask a question. If they are no help I’ll ask someone else or find out for myself about it.
It’s people who see the world through their own eyes so to speak. Now just because someone isn’t a straight 10 or doesn’t have a lot of money doesn’t mean they can’t find a mate in fact they may find someone who is genuinely attracted faster then someone who has both people who have looks and money need to be careful.
It’s just easy for them they see it through their perspective.
what "doesn't matter" to you?
Silly things like height or hair color
It doesn't matter should be an acceptable response to things that one cannot control directly or that don't actually have any impact on themselves. It's a subjective appraisal of the issue being discussed so those who use it either have a good understanding of the impact things have on THEM or are ignorant and therefore uncaring about the impact.
is it your duty to educate them? just as a talk, no sermons.
i remember saying this a lot when i was younger to teachers or parents. they were quick to say it does matter! whatever it was.
you don't have to be responsible. i never said you need to be a foster of the world. have you never stepped in once? does it matter?
Ty for the mho @Sevenpointfive
i only step in for animals or kids too young enough to know better.

This can be summarized as being desensitized.
Of course there are people who truly don't care about money. They are not desensitized. Billionaires are.
i don't think you fully grasped my thought on the question and that's my fault. ignore the picture. i just put a picture up in case they use the question.
"mental health doesn't matter" - people who don't want to pay for it.
are you saying more people need therapists? isn't that what friends are for?
They're wrong? Myopic? Insular? Selfish?
to completely relinquish everything on that particular matter. i guess that is the issue. it is a matter that doesn't matter to them for whatever reason (s), becoming and has been a non-matter from the beginning. hmmm...
they can't be wrong until you make it a matter for them. myopically blind perhaps?
insular might be the ticket. the "we're all going to die some day" take
it can be selfish. but you see how most of that phrases adjectives are negative
