Right now if the potus were to die then the vp Vance takes over. It’s still too early in the administration to go with someone new and the country voted in the Trump admin by a wide margin so putting in an independent would only do more damage.

Healing the country would be a much more challenging solution than simply replacing a president. There a deep divisions on multiple issues so it’s going to take time and effort to unify. We are the United States but these states are very opposed at times and cities within seem to oppose rural areas. So an independent with fresh ideas could help in 3.5 years if they were to mount a successful campaign and probably would deepen the divide if installed today as that’s going against the constitution.
