Leaving Maga? What's your story of why you decided to leave maga?

I never got hustled in the first place, haha. I’ve said here time and again, it’s not even just the politics of it, as horrendous as I find most of it to be. This guy could be pitching the polar opposite to me, policies and worldviews right up my alley…. I’d still know he was full of shit, wouldn’t actually deliver, and I wouldn’t waste my vote on him or imperil myself and my fellow countrymen with their bullshit.
That’s the craziest thing about all of this: no matter what it is he’s pushing specifically, it’s always glaringly obvious that he’s lying through his teeth. Like he’s not even good at lying, yet tens of millions of people believe him, and that’s as/more shocking to me as/than them wanting what he’s claiming to sell.
This is like one of those street hustlers playing Three-Card Monte, and people standing around watching mark after mark after mark come in and lose their money to him, and after 20 minutes of watching, someone else says “I think I’m gonna try.” This is just “holy fuck, are you even paying attention?”-level crazy.
So instead of my own story, I’m going to post another fella’s tale. And this is something that worries me: these younger people in their early-mid 20s who were literally children Trump’s first time around, and either couldn’t yet intellectually grasp the problem with him (no shame in that as a child, tens of millions of adults apparently can’t🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️), think it’s “funny” or “edgy” to bring his nonsense into politics, the most likely answer of all”they just weren’t paying attention at that age”, and just generally perceiving any of this as at all normal or just some reasonable political alternative.
Like I can’t believe people who are 30+ folks who could somehow believe any of that, but the 20-somethings I’ll give a partial pass in the sense of “maybe you just truly don’t get it.” But I wouldn’t trust any of these folks to go used car shopping on their own without supervision, they’re ripe for the grifting.
But this kid, young dude, was in the Army, obsessed with the military as a teenager, loved playing Call Of Duty, and his problem with the left was this very juvenile-minded “I’m annoyed that SJWs don’t want me to say ‘gay’ and ‘retarded’”-mentality that didn’t work for him in a PlayStation online game lobby kind of forum.
I heard the same stupid shit from comedian Andrew Schulz a couple weeks ago when he talked to Pete Buttigieg. A 41 year old man with a child actually voted for Trump based on “Democrats used to be cool when I was growing up, they didn’t word police, they were associated with hip-hop music, and Bill Clinton was getting his dick sucked in the Oval Office”, and he summarized by saying “I don’t think I’VE changed at all. Get pussy, and let me say what I want, and then I’ll vote for you.”
And that is one of the dumbest fucking statements I have ever heard in 46 years of being alive. Jesus. Fucking. CHRIST. I mean, THAT’S why we’re where we are today, completely unserious mentalities like this guy’s, by the tens of millions.

Anyway, this young guy I’ve been talking about, fella by the name of Rashad Crenshaw…. anyone on the fence with MAGA should listen to this. This kid is smart but the way he speaks is very real. Puts intelligent words together but also just keeps it a buck at all times…
https://www.youtube.com/embed/S9Kydh8Hdl8Reason #1 should be obvious: “Y’all are in a cult.” Reason #2 is my favorite, and the one that I hope really lands the right way with those who need to hear it in such a manner: “Y’all 🥷s gay.”🤣🤣🤣 I’ve spent the last ten years arguing with people, hopefully with fairly intelligent words and cogent arguments…but I think this kid gets that you have to get in the mud and speak these people’s language. It’s all they understand, SAT words bounce right off their drive-in movie screen sized foreheads😝
https://www.youtube.com/embed/A72YwLvvqSU Yeah, along those lines. In 2016, the first time tRump ran for office, I was certain that the US voting population may not be very bright on average but they couldn't possibly be THAT stupid. I was wrong, they are THAT stupid.
In tRump's second run for office 8 years later, I had lost all my naive beliefs and willful blindness about the IQ and morality / ethics of my fellow citizens. Watching the Jan 6th insurrection made it clear that these morons are deep inside a Fascist cult that includes about 33% of the adult population. So it was no surprise that all of the White Trash voted for tRump again despite all the evidence that tRump is a scam artist who lies to the people who vote form him because he despises them as worthless peasants.
I have come to accept that this country is made up of 50% ignorant, uneducated, stupid, immoral, hated filled, greedy, assholes. And that's just the way the Conservative brain works.
I have never been mindlessly loyal to any political party or ideology. I'm not a cheer leader, am not influenced by mob mentality, an immune to cults. So I never adopted MAGA, just as I am not a blindly loyal Democrat.
But, as a former Democrat, I started voting independent after Clinton's first term. I wasn't a Republican or conservative, so I continued voting independent as a protest to both parties until Obama ran. Mr. Hope and Change fooled me. But he went back on his campaign promises and basically became Dubya II. I went back to voting independent when he ran for his second term.
In 2016, I, along with the vast majority of Democrats, supported Bernie. I also liked Tulsi. But the DNC was bound and determined to appoint the anointed one (Hillary), regardless of the will of the voters.
I voted independent in 2016 but felt a surprising level of relief when the megalomaniacal, corrupt, dishonest, mass murdering psychopath Killary lost.
I didn't think trump did a bad job in his first term. What I was disgusted by was the unprecedented effort Democrats took to demonize him from 2016 onward. They displayed complete insanity and used every dishonest trick in the book.
When he ran in 2020, I voted for him in an effort to defeat the pervert and professional puppet, Biden. It was the first time I ever voted Republican.
Biden turned out to be as bad or worse than I had imagined.
I voted for Trump again in 2014 because he was the best option and had the best chance of beating the Democratic puppet.
I never wore a MAGA hat but I did go to some rallies where I found a surprising diverse number of people from all races, religions, sexual orientations, and walks of life who wanted a change from the policies of the Democrats. It was quite different from the stereotype promoted by Democrats.
In the end, I was never in the a MAGA club, but I supported Trump in opposition to the despicable Democrats. I take joy in the hysterics of Democrats.
I'm extremely happy with his appointment of RFK jr and Tulsi Gabbard. I am very happy with some of his policies/goals but strongly oppose others.
I didn't leave MAGA specifically. I left being a Republican due to MAGA. I'm not ok with the obvious racism, I'm not ok with a selfish a-hole who thinks everything in the universe is about him. Serving America is about being selfless, a concept he knows nothing about. He's an obvious pathological liar. The way he rewrites events is insulting to my intelligence. He is a horrible person and not a good Christian, no matter how many people try to convince themselves he is. He ignores laws and the constitution. Everything is a publicity stunt. His attacks on freedom of speech this term is probably the most concerning of all. He's a thin skinned wanna-be dictator, the exact type the founding fathers had in mind with the system of checks and balances, which he attempts to circumvent at every turn. I won't become a Democrat over it as I don't generally care for much of what they do either but it would be nice to go back to be a Republican again when Trump is gone. I hear though that the way he has made hate and racism mainstream has irreperably destroyed the party and it will never go back to what it used to be because he can't stand for it to be about anything other than him.
i was maga when i was 17 1/2 - freshly 19. i became that way because i fell down the youtube rabbit hole and back then conservatives were a lot more moderate so it was easier. i mainly became conservative because i thought that if you were against sjws you were right wing and i had a problem with the migrant crisis in Europe (i'm binational). I rapidely became really obsessed with politics and i'd spend most of my time at some point watching conservative youtubers and talking with other right wing people online, and doing some online activism. after a while it was too much for me, i didn't want to think about politics 24/7 because it was depressing and i wanted to do other stuff, so i deconnected. and eventually stopped thinking about it. i thought about politics again later that year but i was more on the opposite site because i had read up a lot on trump, his allegations and his bad behavior, i had seen some bad stuff on people i used to watch, but also i think just having that distance for a while kinda freshened up my mind. i identified as a centrist but anti trump. i voted for biden

I have not left the Trump camp but I have never donned a MAGA cap. On style, I give Trump a failing a grade. His ego interferes with his ability to perceive how others respond to him, and that is a severe weakness for a politician. However, I agree with most of his agenda, and I respect that he accomplished much of what he promised in his first term. Clinton would have been a horrible president so I had no problem voting for Trump in 2016. With his first term track record, I had not problem voting for him again. . . but there are other conservative candidates who I would have supported if they had run.
2020 cemented the end for you since I saw Fauci’s medical advice / news reporting not matching the current Administration which led me to research what others things did this administration promise and didn’t keep which led me down a rabbit hole. Not to mention claiming if Democrats won it wasn’t because he lost supporters / voters, it was because it was rigged since I turned my vote decision to the opponent party since they said things that didn’t sound like his rallies. Reason I watched his rallies in full because he was the President, important to know how the President is commanding the office, I wasn’t pleased to say the least. Joe Biden was in his “basement” doing sad little virtual fireside chats also nailed the debates so I felt confident in my leave of Trump even more.
I talked about this a lot on this platform, so I’ll keep it short: I cast my ballot to Joe Biden in 2020 then Kamala Harris 2024 because on January 6th, 2021 I believed was the lowest this President could go and having him back in The White House would be a disservice and a sin…. Now he is back and I fear for Americans everywhere.
If you have questions, I’ll answer them in DMs since a lot of people can be hostile here.
I am leaving MAGA because my heart can’t take all of the winning. It’s just winning all the time and my heart is pounding.
I have been so used to losing with Biden that I am a bit out of proactive in the art of winning. So much winning in just a few months and now have 4 long years of it ahead. Wow!
I fell for his sales pitch about making things cheaper and making us safer. He has made things more expensive and my friends don't even feel safe outside, and they were born here as citizens. That makes me sad... I regret my vote...
I began to see that Claus Schwab and George Soros were right, I could tell by watching CNN. I began to have this craving for bugs and gulag life.
I toyed with DeSantis early on but Trump reemerged strongly.
Because of his unwavering support for Israel and its genocide and his threats against Russia for defending itself against Kiev regime fascists. I'm still right wing and traditional but I have no use for the orange man
I left MAGA briefly to buy a bottle of Jim Beam.
I am more MAGA than ever. I can see what is possible with the right leadership.
Here's one that's true unlike these fabricated pieces of shit I see here. Not a fanatic over MAGA but will vote Trump every fucking time!😮 🇺🇲😎🫰💥
I didn’t, and I never will.
MAGA! 🇺🇸
Because im a gay loser and they will never accept me
Come inside! Plenty of room ex MAGAs
Lol. What do we actually get by leaving?
More of Joe Biden 😂
@WhiteBoyChill Sanity and a grown up in the Whitehouse. Not a toddler in a Jabba costume. Notice they stopped writing up his speeches on the Whitehouse website because THEY can tell the rambling incoherence might spread to his cult and some of them will be reset to factory settings and out of their corrupted file settings
@WhiteBoyChill You must have just been born then. The movie Idiocracy wasn't meant to be an instruction manual for the US to follow.
@WhiteBoyChill lol is there anything that's a point in your comment?
I doubt you’ll get that many responses
Im not American, so
It won't happen, at least on here.
Is there a vax for MAGA?
If there is, I'm sure you'll take ten boosters every six months, wear four facemasks and a hazmat suit and stay a hundred feet from everyone with a MAGA hat on.
