The problem is fewer insurance companies and lack of regulation stopping them from boosting prices to increase the amount of profit they can take. 3 companies hold over 80% of the market in 80% of the states.

Coverage for a basic plan tripled and co-pays went from $2000 to $15000 per person I guess in today's money it is not a lot but then it was a fortune today it still is a lot of money.
