California Governor Gavin Newsom told President Donald Trump to "just get it over with, arrest me" as the pair argue over immigration raids in Los Angeles and how to handle the disorder that erupted from the protests against them. Trump had said he would arrest Newsom if he were the White House border czar Tom Homan, calling the prospect a "great thing." Homan had earlier said those harboring illegal immigrants would face the law, and the Democratic governor of California is not excluded from that."This is why I told the president, just get it over with, arrest me, move on. If you need some head to scalp, do it with me, but stop messing with these kids," Newsom said. Newsom said he was aware of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) running "checkpoints, checking people's IDs" in Los Angeles. Both Newsom and L. A. Mayor Karen Bass responded to the comments on Monday, with Bass calling the threat "unnecessary" and saying she won't brawl with the federal government. Meanwhile, Newsom then told Homan to "come and get me." "Trump's border czar is threatening to arrest me for speaking out," Newsom said in a post on X. "Come and get me, tough guy. I don't give a damn. It won't stop me from standing up for California." The state of California has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over its order to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles without Newsom's approval. The lawsuit says Trump "invoked emergency powers to exceed the bounds of lawful executive authority." The pair clashed earlier this year when Trump blamed Newsom for the California wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes and called for his resignation. "The President of the United States just called for the arrest of a sitting Governor."This is a day I hoped I would never see in America. I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican this is a line we cannot cross as a nation this is an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism. "These are the acts of a dictator, not President."

Trump didn't threaten to arrest Newsom. He didn't even bring it up. He was asked by a reporter if he agreed with Homan. Trump quipped "I would do it if I were Tom. I think it's great."

Why did the reporter even ask that question. Homan never threatened Newsom or Bass with arrest.

As troops began arriving in the city Sunday morning, Homan spoke with NBC News’ Jacob Soboroff, who asked if Newsom and Bass face the risk of arrest. That was a leading question.
Homan replied, “I’ll say this about anybody—if you cross that line, it’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal illegal aliens, it’s a felony to impede law enforcement from doing their job.”
Speaking specifically about Bass, Homan added, “If she crossed that line, we’ll ask DOJ to prosecute,” though he noted he didn’t believe Bass had “crossed that line” yet.

And then you have Newsom escalating the situation and trying to look like a bad ass defender of liberty, lying as usual: "The President of the United States just called for the arrest of a sitting Governor," he posted on Instagram along with a video of Trump's comments. I live in California and have despised Newsom since his "dictatorial" covid mandates. Now I despise him even more. That despicable, primping grease ball should be horse whipped and staked out in the desert to be consumed by ants.

Gavin Newsom is trying to pander to his far-left base by supporting illegal immigrants, but the reality is that the majority of the population is against it, even in California, and like so many issues, he's on the wrong side because literally the only people he spends time around are liberal elites who aren't directly affected by their own policies, and are far more concerned about how global elites in Europe see them than anyone in California.

The mayor of Los Angeles recently said that federal law doesn't apply in California. Clearly Newsome feels the same way, though at least he's smart enough not to say so in front of a TV camera. But just as the democrats fought the racial integration of schools, and it took federal power to get them to follow the law, so it is now. Newsome is obstructing the law, and while he probably won't be arrested, the law IS going to be enforced.

It will take some time for things to settle out, but in the long run, the country will be much better off. Our immigration policies have been abused for decades, and it's long past time it ended.

Here, in Sweden, the attitude is more of EVERYONE should have enough and the rate of pay is set according to how much you can afford most of the time. It means there's no minimum BUT no one would date offer less than about $15-20 per hour to do the most basic of work functions, even unofficial ones. Heck getting a taxi starts at about $35 just to get in.

And he's been working to end the Russian Ukraine war, but Putin simply can't stop because if he can't give a clear win, he will be out of power, and he's clearly willing to destroy his own country rather than admit even a stalemate.

And here is the crazy thing right from CNN today: LEGAL immigrants have shifted to the Republican side of the immigration issue by 40% since 2016 - numbers that the CNN hosts choke on when forced to talk about it. The majority of the country, and even the majority of immigrants, are with the Trump agenda on immigration. And Trump continues to gain more voters in every poll.

Within 2 weeks of taking office President trump reduced illegal border crossings by over 90%. He said that we did not need new legislation to do it. We just needed a new president.
