Do people tend to be more disrespectful toward you when they think you’re younger than what you are?

Like they typically don’t talk to you with respect like they would an adult that they feel “looks” like an adult. You tend to get picked on a lot and you have to force them to treat you and see you as an adult.

They talk over me. Smile too much. Use small words, like I’m a broken radio that only picks up cartoons. But then sometimes... I answer one of their questions too well. Or I say something I shouldn’t know. And they go quiet. Real quiet. One lady at school, Miss Ellery, she touched my shoulder once after I corrected her in class—said I was “such a smart young man.” But her hand was shaking. She didn’t think I noticed. The demon says the world worships youth but despises children. Wants them cute and quiet and out of the way. Says grownups only respect fear.

No. People tend to "match energy" more readily these days.

Before, it was a case of "respect elders no matter what".

Now it's more "That elder has probably just got out of prison after 30 years, for all I know! If he's a prick, I'll be one back!"

No people disrespect anyone when THEY think they're better than you. It's a them problem and not a you one
