I know a woman who is moderate or even liberal on most issues who describes herself as a feminist but says she's against abortion except in extreme cases. Struck me as odd.

Yes and no. A feminist would allways be pro choice. But pro-choice includes the option to choose for themselve to be pro-life, just not forcing it onto others.

Feminism is about wanting equality between men and women. It has nothing to do with one's opinions on reproductive choices.

Yeah because that's still her opinion. That's like me saying a woman can't be a feminist because she thinks mammograms should be banned.
