Is the renewed travel ban too expansive, not expansive enough, or just right?

Drumpf unveiled plans to renew his travel ban from his first administration as POTUS. The first iteration faced multiple legal challenges but ultimately succeeded. It’s expected that those previous challenges gave the new administration the advantage in fast-tracking the latest version.
I wonder though, especially with the recent success China had with smuggling a deadly and destructive pathogen into the US, why isn’t China on the list of restricted countries?

Interestingly, Drumpf referred to the recent attack in Boulder, Colorado in justifying these restrictions. Yet the attacker’s home country of Egypt is not on the list of travel restrictions.

Are these merely oversights on the part of the FBI, DOJ, HS, and SD? Or are Drumpf’s critics right that he’s merely seizing the opportunity to demonstrate his xenophobia, directed primarily at Muslims, and not at all concerned about national security?
