Should there be a statute of limitations on deportations?

Let’s say someone came here illegally 10 years ago but they have a job, family, house, and contributes to society. Why should they be deported?

If they’ve literally never done anything else wrong, slap them with a hefty fine. The system isn’t perfect and neither are people. Cases fall through the cracks for a variety of reasons.
We should definitely punish people and companies who take advantage of immigrants too. Most people working full time don’t receive paid time off. When an immigrant needs time off to make their appointments with the USCIS and associated agencies, are they cutting their own wrists to do so? Choosing between a roof over their head and food on the table or their naturalization?
Companies should divulge their employees’ immigration status and sponsor them through the process; paid days off and all. If they don’t, slap them with hefty fines for their violations too.
We can’t forget that most people come here to make good on the American dream. Punishing workers and not their employers is no different than the war on drugs going after addicts instead of cartels.

stations in which there's hours and hours dedicated to legal/illegal immigration issues, people call for advice... guidance and all that

there's literally dozens of calls every single day... about people who have been in the US for years and years, sometimes decades... and yes, they do have jobs, family, houses, cars... pay taxes and all that

why are they still illegal...

and the reason is most of the times, one... a criminal record, many of them say... "but it's just fines" and yes, they're traffic violations and not robbing banks but still... driving while drunk is a criminal activity

there's already different ways for immigrants to become legal residents... they're there, they exist... and a whole lot of them make it

and some of them get deported... most of the time, because of repeated DUI or domestic violence charges

No, either we are a nation of laws or we just have anarchy. You cannot selectively enforce only the laws that are convenient. To put a statute of limitations on deportations a bill must be passed through congress and signed by the president.

When a cop puts on the badge he takes an oath to uphold the law, all the laws. They are not supposed to differentiate between laws that they agree with and the ones that they do .
