Illegal aliens ARE deported... when they can be (*).

Something important to note about the current crisis...

US federal law states that anyone who wishes political asylum is given a hearing to ascertain if it is justified that they be given asylum.

And that's what's happening...

Instead of just crossing the border at illegally, many are simply surrendering at legal border crossing points and requesting political asylum. So, these people need to be held or tracked until their hearing occurs and that could be many months later. Those who enacted the asylum law never expected such a large influx of political asylees. Thus, the system is being overwhelmed.

(*) I wrote "when they can be" because, unfortunately, countries from which people came may not readmit them. We can't just ship them to wherever whenever we want because we'd need permission to land and give these people back. Believe it or not, now MANY of these aliens are Chinese and China will not take them back. So, this just exacerbates the problem.

This fact is important to realize why some "solutions" suggested here that are "easy peasy" aren't solutions are all. All too often, people think solutions are simple when they are not.

Correcting this crisis involves both changing the law but also providing additional resources for INS (Immigration and Naturalization Services). A "wall" doesn't solve the crisis when people are surrendering at legal border crossing points.

That said, the border should be made more secure. Part of the problem with that is the legality of doing so. To make the border secure, the Federal Government would have to seize at least part of many people's private land. This is called "eminent domain" and it's not that simple either because an eminent domain request requires the government to buy that land (and that's a lot of money), but, also, people may be reluctant to sell and so a court case occurs.

Here's an example of the intractability of this problem:

This street is called Canusa Street. The houses on the left are in Vermont, United States. The houses on the right are in Québec, Canada. How do we make this border secure? Buy everybody's houses and put up a wall to prevent the hordes from Canada crossing?

This road, NY-276, is right on the border with Canada. The people in these two homes are neighbors and can easily talk to each other with no significant physical border separating them.

Well, that's the northern border - the longest undefended border in the world.

But, on the southern border, there are comparable issues. Lots of ranchers and such own property right up to the border itself.

If you want REAL border security, then the roughly 10,000 miles of land border in the USA would need to all be purchased by the Federal Government and then fortified.

The best thing to do is make legal immigration as fast as possible. Like within a day. That way we have zero illegal immigrants.

Immigration is the last line of defense of generation collapse. Like China, Japan, worst off south Korean. We need more workers to pay the boomers social security and immigrants are the difference of paying it.

Immigrants are risk takers give them legal work they make the impossible possible. If we shun them to only work in illegal work they make the morally impossible profitable. So give them opportunities in legal work for humanity sake.

Hopefully next year with a new administration we can put American citizes first and put an end to the insanity tha Biden has brought to this country. To start things on the weekend before the superbowl we advertise free citizenship and a free iPhone for the first thousand people to register. We advertise that this giveaway is happening at all NFL stadiums. When they all show up they get rounded up and sent back. Easy peasy.
