What was the last phrase you stole?

The photo shows a news headline from our local press about a sewage leak into a bathing area. I found the phrase "bum broth" amusing so I've stolen and stored in away in my mind for future use.

Another one I've learned recently is "post turtle" it compares people in management to turtles on fence posts. The turtle doesn't know what to do up there, he can't function, he didn't get up there by himself, and you wonder what idiot put him up there.

My motorcycle. Literally. Yesterday. I barely touched the throttle on a right turn, just enough to keep the forks compressed through.. and he made this "bahh bahh bahh bahh bahh" light throaty puffing and then went back to normal. It was the way. The tone. I told him I'm borrowing that if he didn't mind.

(Saying things like that is sane if spoken inside a motorcycle helmet, while riding.)

Next time someone slams a "lane close" sign down in front of me at a grocery check out.. I might pull that out.

I don't steal them but use them to pay out the management of my company that say them

like it is in the pipe line... translates to it is the light at the end of the tunnel, but you never see it.

I will take partial blame for that... means it was totally my fault but got to throw someone under the bus too to take the blame off me

and so many more, I love using it at them before they get a chance to and getting their reaction

I know i’ve copped a few quips over the years, but i can’t think of the most recent one at this moment. I stole “Jerusalem cruisers” and “mamma jamma” from a woman i worked with in the ‘00s. I got “window licker” from a friend during the same period. My favorite might be “play stoopid games, win stoopid prizes”. I got that from a FB friend, but i can’t quite place the when. It might have been the ‘00s or the ‘10s.

I normally come up with own word/phrase constructions.

But I do have a few favourite quotes.

#1 is: ''Life in the Colonies'' ---> it's a phrase from my grandmother's cooking book (published 1901) that heads a chapter describing how to organize and to handle the difficulties arising from being exposed to simple cultures.
