Yes, it's usual tactics in politics. You spit on your self or let a friends spitting on you to discourage your real enemies to spit on you. Because it's psychological mechanic that you don't want doing the same thing your opponents do.
Musk and his cronies invested lot money in Trump, do you really think they will torpedo and sink their investment with some public invective which appear to be very childish. Honestly, if they really want do that it's over for Trump.
I guess if Trump achieves just one very small positive thing, Musk will turn instantly as Donald's friend again.

the more I read into this the more and more it seems staged my thinking is trump is using this as a way to distance himself from musk so that musk can further ruin our country under the guise of hateing trump appealing to the democratic party and not causing issues directly that they see as a concern. Trump knows his time in office is short compared to how long it will feel and he needs to act now having him and musk fight so musk can ruin our country and trump blame it on the democrats is perfect because it reinforces his point and keeps the blame off of him and if anyone mentions it they look like idiotic fools because the evidence is so clearly laid out
