If they must, some will and some won’t. But what you’re insinuating isn’t what is actually happening. There are mobs of criminals hurting people and destroying property. Some of us have seen it firsthand, and there’s an abundance of video evidence for those who haven’t. There’s no point in denying it, so those in favor of crime, chaos and mayhem are justifying it.
If troops show up to protect the citizens, federal agents, law enforcement officers and public property that are being attacked, and then the troops are attacked, their responsibility is absolutely to protect those people and this country from all threats, foreign and domestic.
They haven’t been ordered to hunt down peaceful protestors as Newsome and the lunatic leftists in the mainstream media are insinuating. But if they did, there’s no reason to expect them to not follow orders. We send men and women overseas to murder in the name of profit all the time and we don’t whine about them following shameful orders then. Mostly because it’s not on our own doorstep. Are we special?
Do we deserve consideration and mercy that we’ve trained military troops to wholly ignore when the “enemies” are overseas and not US citizens? I think not.

You are right we are living in dangerous times. Our forefathers wrote the 2nd Amendment to protect against tyranny, a system where you have no say in the way you are governed. Forms of totalitarianism are tyrannical. As an American any citizen is obligated to do what they can to end tyranny, just as our forefathers did. The Posse Comitatus Act only restricts the Army and Airforce and not the Navy or Marines. This is probably why President Trump mobilized the Marines instead of the Army.

OK, I was wrong, "a subsequent amendment in 1956 expanded its scope to the United States Air Force" (but it was funny, so I left it there). However ICYMI: "In 2021, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 further expanded the scope of the Act to cover the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Space Force." So you're still wrong.
