There is this underrepresented rural community in Tennessee that lacks first responders. The nearest ambulance is 20+ minutes away. Despite pleas to state legislators and local leaders, no one cares.

I took matters into my own hands and purchased a used AED for an excellent price. I was trying to get help from organizations to acquire the pads, but I hadn't received any help on that. I found an alternative, cheaper way to purchase them, so now I have 2 sets of adult pads and a recharge pack on the way. I received the actual AED today.

It blows my mind how there is very little care about this. Despite this being a populated area with schools, churches, and an influx of ATV tourism, no one seems to care.

Of course, many times. Lots of items. But not a new AED. Good job. I am looking into donating to prisons for certain items such as books and sewing material that they use to create quilts for Foster children.

One of the most heart warming for me was giving hundreds of pounds of food to a Food Back around Christmas time. We just felt like it and bought 200 pounds of rice as a starter (and we got the better Jasmine rice which I hope made life easier as it smells so great when cooking). Lots of other stuff including diapers, razor blades and whatever else they had on their online list. The director of the Food Back asked us which “organization” donated all the food but as we told her, it was just us giving a Christmas gift to each other as we have what we want.

But in all seriousness, well done of the AED!

Thank you! I actually got a hold of one for only $80. It was used but supposedly in good condition. I am just awaiting for the pads and recharge kit.

Well, Tennessee is a Red State Conservative Shithole. No taxes, no govamint. They don't give a shit about the poor, the elderly, accident victims, basically anyone who is not them. I say give the the hate they voted for and let them pray to their fake God when they're dying. That will actually make America great again.

I feel there is either far left or far right anymore. I am a conservative for the most part, but I support our first responders and their cause. I take emergency preparedness seriously. Don't wanna raise taxes? I get it. But budget prioritization is important, and letting EMS keep the revenue they generate to build themselves up instead of placing funds in the general fund to be utilized elsewhere. I will say one thing positive about Tennessee, they finally ingrained it in their laws that EMS is essential. But unlike most othet states, something as simple as making assaults against EMS and firefighters a felony doesn't cost extra money, yet they haven't encoded that in law.

Back in the earlier '90's I built a wishing well out of wood and donated it to my church-school auction. Unfortunately, the winning bidder paid less for it then I spent on the wood.

I buy things for charities, but I don't really donate them as I never got them for myself to begin with. I got them for the charity, I don't consider that donating, because I went into the store to buy things that were for the charity specifically.
