i'm hope they had explained the rules before the press conference. i can't see them not. it looks like he showed up late, didn't get the memo and was already in position to get arrested before he said a word. it looks very staged to me. i'll have to watch more videos to get a bigger picture. do senators normally show up to a press conference? he didn't need to go about getting his answer this way. this was done on purpose.

Would this have happened if Alex Padilla, my US Senator, was white instead of brown? I think not. All of this from Trump on down to the security goons is about racism and money - as usual in this country. Slavery was first introduced to the US in 1619 accompanied by racism, and the advantages of free labor were quickly realized by the plantation owners in the South. The South has never forgotten those advantages or the racism that accompanied it, nor have they forgotten the loss of the Civil War in 1865. Their rage over this along with their addiction to cheap labor has a lot to do with where we are today.

It would not surprise me at all. I live in California and the central valley here is all agriculture all the time, and all cheap illegal labor all year all the time. Surprise - the pay is illegal too.

They definitely do get hired a lot by all sorts of companies here, because those companies can pay them about 5-8 $ per hour (which is illegal), and the workers will not complain to the government. It increases the profits of the companies that hire them.

I don't think the visa is the issue. That border is very porous, and in truth, California AG will not function without these people. They do no harm and a lot of good here.

That’s one version of the story.
The other version suggests he ignored the professional decorum typical of such conferences. He was approaching the podium and shouting Noem down. Law enforcement tried to restrain him and he fought back, forcing them to remove him from the conference room. There was no “tackle” recorded, but he was reportedly detained temporarily.
