They don’t stand for anything. They’re opportunists. Nothing more and nothing less. What they look like is completely irrelevant. If you allow yourself to humanize them, it’s difficult to not feel bad for them. Even a skosh of child psychology shows us that temper tantrums are a reaction to a child feeling powerless.
The young adults pictured and the rest as yet running amok are so completely ineffectual in their day to day lives that going out to hurt people and destroy other people’s property makes them feel powerful and important. “Hurt people hurt people,” as they say.
I’d suggest that what makes them “the usual suspects” is their useless degrees, if they have any, their menial dead-end jobs, if they work at all, and their profound entitlement. Of which we can only observe in the smile of one of those pictured. I’m glad they have been caught and i hope they’re prosecuted, but it’s not like we have an effective way to meaningfully reform their bad behavior. Our system barely works for those who actually recognize that they did something wrong. Brats like that bunch have been convinced of their moral superiority by the politicians using them as pawns in their game of thrones.

I guess I would describe it as "emotionally unstable" looking... with that edge to them that makes me not trust them with kids. Maybe the word 'smug' sort of describes what I see.

I've seen pictures like this before from prior riots from the first summer of love... I remember one looked like a legit burn victim... all that same vibe though.

Logically... these are people that probably don't have a real job, and they think going to a protest and taking it so far that they actually get arrested is a good idea. When I look at it with that perspective, everything from their hair to the look in their eyes makes sense. They all have that 'loser' look if that makes sense.
