You won 5 billion dollars tax-free in a lottery, and you were paid the whole amount? What things would you then do and buy, or not?

It wouldn't change my life that much. I'd still choose to fly under the radar in anonymity. Be invisible. Draw no undue attention to myself. Live in a nice middle class neighborhood. Drive a nice reasonably priced sedan. Keep my friend group small and extremely well vetted. Keep my mouth shut about my personal life.

I don't want to own 4 homes and 7 cars. Been there done that so to speak. 3 homes and 4 cars. I decided that at some point the stuff can start to own you. And people can be parasites around money. I enjoy being free to move through life as I choose without being encumbered by things or people that don't really add much value to my life.

To be able to spend god awful amount of money in a blink of an eye, fulfill all my dreams seeing amazing animals happy. Then sustain an environment to maintain conservation afteri die and money is spent. It scratches every fiber of my soul.

It's the ultimate have your cake and eat it too. To sustain wildlife with pushing new technologies to co-habitate. 1000x better then any space travel. Not to say it's not important but it's horse before the cart if we can't sustain an already inhabiting world if we want to travel the galaxy.

Have a modest-sized concrete dome home built in my home town with a dome garage. Buy a used BMW diesel sedan. Buy an aero-diesel, single-engine plane. Buy a few million $ in precious metals. Invest in conservative investments and from those earnings give generously, but anonymously, to very well run charities. I love the idea another person had about paying off the debt of foreclosed family farms and giving them the deeds.

I haven't flown in years so my information is dated. I believe Diamond used to sell diesels. I'm sure I could get used to the tilted side stick. I don't know any others. Except for one flight in my boss's Grumman Cheetah, every private airplane I've flown was a high-wing. My boss insisted that I do the landing and it was NOT pretty. For $5 billion I could afford to spend a few million on one of those Diamond single engine personal jets, but the insurance company would probably insist on a lot of training.

The only high wing I ever flew was a 172, and like you, my landings were not optimal. I prefer low-wing for visibility and the ability to actually land the thing. With 5 billion I might splurge on aa 737-800 and a pilot...

It's an inconceivable amount of money. I'd probably give ten million to everyone in my family and serious amounts to charities. I wouldn't know what to do with it.

I’d put most of it in foreign banking institutions, and just enough here to live off of maybe a year at a time. Then i’d travel the world and figure out where i want to live and ultimately die.
