Does the left think that they never have been, are not now, or can't be cringey, lame, and weird? Or that they can't try too hard to be appealing?

Here are a few recent examples. Do any of these seem like good ideas?

Their "Choose Your Fighter" ad (playing on Super Smash Bros.)...

My first thought: "This is their 'Christian rock'."

AOC and Walzy think live-streaming themselves (allegedly) playing Madden and being not at all subtle about injecting Project 2025 talking points makes them relatable...

Their "Project SAM" thing specifically mentions "Digital & In-Game Ads" (translation: video games... what is it with them and video games now?).

And last but definitely not least...

I will never NOT enjoy smacking this around.

So if you are on the left, do you think this is how to gain support, or do these motivate you? If you're an independent, libertarian, disaffected liberal, or a conservative, do these attempts do it for you?

Yeah, that was mostly fairly cringey in the execution. Choose Your Fighter was terrible. America is in an existential crisis of a faction of politicians trying to commandeer long-term governmental control and drag out entire society backwards in time and progress, so this isn’t the time for jokes. We’re battling madmen to preserve the hopefully-decent soul of our nation and determine what kind of people we want to be, good or evil.

White Guys For Harris didn’t bother me too much. I think white men’s reflexive rejection of any measure of self-reflection or self-accountability when it comes to issues of understanding women and racial dynamics is maybe one of the biggest roadblocks to American progress we’re faced with, usually all because they don’t want to make some very necessary adjustment or concession, and because they have some idiotically primitive view on how to be performatively masculine in front of others so people think you’re cool and tough, lmao.

Basically, the people who need to do some of the most changing in order to benefit society broadly are like “LOL, no. I enjoy having unfair advantages in life and doing nothing to counter them for someone else’s good.”

Adult children, basically, who never developed emotionally and socially past middle school. America, even beyond white guys, are mostly adult children who have lost sight of most things that matter in the world and can’t look beyond their own comfort and bank accounts, and that’s eventually going to lead to a society of terribly-intentioned people.

Yes, the “Choose Your Fighter” bit was a serious miscalculation, to say the least.

The WDFH ad doesn't bother me, but it’s still terrible. And here's why. Overall, it sounds like it was written by some 21-year-old mass comm major whose exposure to men comes from Sex and The City and rom-coms, she gets her news from the Huffington Post and listens primarily to Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, and has never met a bona fide man before, one who has, say, served in the military or worked in construction or manufacturing, is intelligent, strong, and hard-working, and takes things like honor and integrity seriously.

It all but not-so-subtly implies “Oh no white guys, you don’t REALLY suck…but if you don’t do what we want, eeehhh... actually yeah, you kinda do." You talk about self-reflection and accountability, but don't you see the irony in that?

Maybe they could run Taylor Swift in 2028.

Dude, politicians are regularly cringy, doesn't matter what side. A lot of the left just doesn't hero worship their politicians the way some do, so we just kind of cringe and move on when the people we're hoping will support our causes do something awkward or cringy. We'll take cringy if it means we get like personal freedoms and reasonable governmental programs.

Okay, so then that comes back to the spots I just posted. Are these supposed to inspire confidence with a man like me that the Democrats have the means to resolve this situation and are serious about employing them? Because it doesn't. I saw enough of Kamala Harris' campaign to know that if she were president right now, she'd be treating us to all sorts of drunken haikus about Iran's nuclear dreams and ambitions and aspirations about their nuclear program and the nukes they want to build and how women in Iran need more abortions.

Whereas even though I am not totally in love with yesterday's actions, there is at least precedent and consistency from Donald Trump on this issue. 1) Let's not forget that in January 2020, he ordered a drone strike that killed one of their top generals, Qasem Soleimani. And what happened? Nothing. Military action does not always and necessarily result in all-out war. 2) He has said since at least 2011 that Iran should not have nuclear weapons (here is the link to that - www.whitehouse.gov/.../ )

So no, I am not totally convinced that we are headed to war. At least I sincerely hope that we are not.
