War is always bad, but maintaining alliances is good. Too few people realize how fragile the US economy really is right now and what our politicians have had to do in order to keep our currency backed by foreign economies. If a single major nation stops backing the US dollar, it could lead to a cascade of nations dropping it and our economy completely collapses on the global markets. So if an ally that backs our currency calls on us to fight with them, for them, or supply them with weapons, we do it. Regardless of the potential for political fallout.
The US has been the “guido” for various “bookies” for decades now just to keep our currency relevant and our economy afloat. Far and away the riskiest part of Drumpf’s tariff balancing act is the chance that one of the countries he’s standing up to uses their financial power to persuade one of our allies to drop the dollar. Then our empire topples like a house of cards. If we can meaningfully develop our domestic economy enough before that happens, we can become self reliant. We’re not there yet though and we have a long way to go.
That said, i’m in favor of the plan. We should never have been so dependent upon any foreign market for our own economic stability.

Representative Thomas Massie, in his June 21, 2025, statement argued the strike required congressional approval under Article I, Section 8, calling it an unconstitutional overreach and implying war initiation.
The strike was a targeted operation, not a war declaration. The War Powers Resolution (1973) allows 60 days of military action without congressional approval if the President certifies an imminent threat, which Trump did via a classified memo to Congress.

Too early to say. Depends on whether Iran produces a nuke anyway or not.

Also whether a diplomatic solution was still feasible or not is now alternative history.

But the difference between how this administration treats the conflict in the ME and Europe is telling.
