as for the unmarked vehicles, this helps them blend in and avoid escalating a situation that is only meant to remove ILLEGAL immigrants (immigrating illegally is still a crime and they are still seen as criminals because ILLEGAL). there are also dangerous illegal criminals and they need to be removed by people wearing masks and no identity because, again, retaliation risk of gangs finding out. unmarked vehicles allows ICE to detain suspects without drawing attention.

but yes, it is scary to think anyone can just do this and not know if that is actually ICE or just some scary unhinged person abducting criminals.

this is how it's actually done: ICE does identify themselves as federal agents and they explain the reason for the arrest. IF they are required a warrant, they will present it. all of this is completely legal to do if the agents are acting under proper authority and have reasonable suspicion or a warrant.

1. Law enforcement would not bother to hire a high risk criminal (especially a felon) to work in ICE. Also, it’s not really beneficial for a criminal to work at ICE since they’ll have to keep law abiding folks from finding out the truth.

2. As Dongie said, there are certain left wingers who will attack ICE agents for trying doing their job of apprehending any illegals. Therefore, some agents choose to wear masks. It’s similar to how undercover cops have to be in disguise to carry out their job. Also, being masked doesn't automatically make a person a criminal.

3. Ice Agents are identified by their official badges. Additionally, they’re better off not being easily identified because illegals could easily spot someone in a cop uniform.

I think the comment were not about ICE hiring criminals but criminals posing as ICE to do things such as kidnap people. The incident of that dude dressing up as police to kill elected officials comes to mind. Having law enforcement having to identify themselves both gives them legitimacy proving that they are actually a law enforcement agent as well as opens them up for accountability for their actions taken during their duty.

This is a matter of weighing the safety of the public vs the safety of the law enforcement agent. Like it or not but the public employs these people to accept personal risks so I dont think they get to complain that it puts their personal safety at risk or even the safety of their family. They choose to accept that job which includes those risks and they are financially compensated based on said risk.

No. They are not legally allowed. Law enforcement are required to identify themselves in the USA. They are also required to have a signed warrant by a judge from a court of law for each individual or property search, unless there is obvious reason such as a current crime taking place. I've yet to see reason from any incident caught on surveillance footage.
