Whats the reasoning behind young men wanting to go to war or face combat?

I use to want combat. The adrenaline of combat. Fighting for your life but now im 26 and realize how fragile life is. In a way I still want it. I feel like its better than my day job that consist of cleaning toilets lol

I think part of it's hormones, I think part of it is deep down every man wants to be a warrior. I think part of it is youth and naiveté and not having a full grasp on what you're signing up for. I also think it's related to the public school system in America to a small extent, though not like it is with Russia with the Putin youth, but it never sat right with me that there were army recruiters in my school trying to get freshmen into boot camp for summer.

They're young and think they're invincible. It's just the way young people are. Also this is why armies like young soldiers. Because young people don't ask, "why"? They can be trained to just follow orders much easier than an older adult who is more inclined to thik things through.

No idea. I would never serve in any of the US foreign wars. All have been complete folly since the Korean War.

They are still thinking they are indestructible. I am glad none of my kids expressed any interest in the military
