It’s about people trying to tell me who I can and can’t work with😒 (jk🤣)….

    https://www.youtube.com/embed/A72YwLvvqSU

In seriousness…. its kind of a dated term these days, at least where I live. People more say things are “woke” now, which isn’t what woke even originally meant, but that’s another topic for another day, haha

But I’d say it’s a buzzword to encompass a greater societal endeavor to be kind, respectful, and inclusive, to everyone, particularly in a country as diverse as America. Like anything else, it can be misused or taken too far, but the general spirit of it is supposed to be positive.

The American Constitution guarantees our citizens the right to free speech, which is great in many senses. But there are unfortunately some people who really want to abuse that right as a permission slip to say any old thing that should rightfully get you punched in the face.

Whether that’s allowed under the Constitution is debatable; but I’m pretty sure the authors of it didn’t make the rule in the spirit of fostering unbridled shit-talking to anyone random person or group of people in an otherwise hopefully polite society. It was most likely to ensure you couldn’t be beheaded in the town square for shit-talking the government like you could’ve been under King George III of England whose rule they just fought a war to free themselves from being under.

Simply put: a green light for bigotry or whatever other piss-poor attitudes to decide to burden society with is a weird way to interpret it.

I think if I have a beef with political correctness, it’d be that they won’t just settle on what proper terminology is. It keeps changing😒😂

Like that video I posted…thats not PC, but as someone who is mostly PC-by-accident-just-by-way-of-not-wanting -to-be-a-jerk, “retard” doesn’t bother me. My half-brother has “special needs” or whatever the PC term is these days, but I’m old enough where when I was a kid, his condition was just officially called “mentally retarded”, like that’s what doctors called it, lmao.

It was more contextual, the PC of it all. My friends could call me a retard for doing something dumb, and I’d laugh with them. Call my brother a retard mockingly, especially to his face….. run upstairs and go put your pajamas on, you’re going to sleep early😵💥🤛

But anyway, somewhere along the line, because too many people said “retard” disrespectfully to folks with special needs or within earshot of them, we decided that wasn’t ok anymore. Fine, that’s cool. I think we changed to “mentally handicapped” next. Alright, whatever they say, I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings unnecessarily. It’s no inconvenience to me to NOT be a jerk, lmao.

But then after a little bit, that was no good. (Yet I think we still call parking spaces for disabled people “handicapped parking”🤔) I forget what was next, maybe “mentally challenged?” And then I think “special needs”, and that was it for me, that’s enough vocabulary change and mental retraining for one lifetime, lmao. PICK SOMETHING AND STICK WITH IT😤

Now I think it’s “developmentally disabled”, and at some point you’re asking for too many syllables out of me. I’m cool, I promise, I’m my brother’s legal guardian for the rest of his life. But enough with nomenclature adjustments. We can do “developmentally disabled” if you promise this is the last time, legally in writing, I just can’t keep doing this, lmfao. PLEASE😂 The Asians asked us to stop calling them Orientals, ONE TIME, and we all said “cool”, and they haven’t made any changes in like 35 years since then, lmao.

Anyway, enough out of me😅 But yeah…. PC shouldn’t be anything deliberate, it feels like a base level of human respect should always be satisfied, independent of any supposedly “earned” respect. Like anything you can’t change about yourself should be accepted without any real exception I can think of.

Respect for a fellow being drawing breath on this planet, and respect for a fellow human going through the human experience, granted automatically, and only under the most extreme circumstances of Level 99 evil behavior could it even be considered to be revoked and disregarded, and possibly just never, no matter what they’ve done.

So with those more extreme parameters set, the basic, effortless action of just being kind and treating people in the same way you would want to be treated should come extremely easily.

That term started being used back in the early 80s, maybe a bit later than that.

Political correctness started in the 70s, but the term wasn't used until the 80s.

Political correctness was about changing the language to change all words perceived as derogatory or somehow negative to various groups. It largely started as gender neutral words. Hurricanes were no longer only female names, but alternated female and male names. Stewardess become flight attendant. Draftsmen became drafter or drafts person. Mrs and miss became Ms.

    Oriental became Asian.

Indians became Native Americans (or First Nations in Canada)

There are a whole bunch of words like this. "Politically correct" was a term used to mock the change in vocabulary. It's intentionally ironic. Politically correct has meant politically incorrect since the beginning. It's totally mocking the people who came up with that stuff.

Politically correct to me means, that I can not be honest and tell the truth. Because you have to worry about hurting someone feelings, well screw that I have never been politically correct. The truth at times can be hurtful, it can hurt feelings and at times there is no way to soften it's impact.

Political correctness, is about censorship. I can not be against them teaching homosexuality to children, because I am homophobic and being anti gay is a hate crime. I can not say that a trans woman is not a female, because that is hurtful and disrespectful to the trans person.

Thank you Donald Trump, for killing political correctness.

It means that you have to follow the rules that the democrats make up. They have a narrative that white people are evil, The pilgrims stole the country from the natives, and everything Trump does is wrong.
I imagine most would say that I am not politically correct.

Political correctness basically means supporting corruption and deception with lies. Examples of “political correctness”:

    • J3ws are good and innocent (truth: they are evil)
    • Men and women are equal (truth: men are superior and there is nothing wrong with it)
    • Sunlight is bad for you it gives you cancer (truth: sunlight is necessary because it provides perhaps the most important vitamin called vitamin D)
    • Fasting gives you cancer (truth: fasting heals you)
    • and many more

What’s politically correct today is offensive tomorrow. What was not politically correct yesterday now is. It’s okay when certain people say things just not others.

Just people wanting to be offended by stuff mainly. But then those same people say offensive stuff

The term originated in the Soviet Union where someone would say something that is factually correct, but not politically correct. In other words political correctness is a tool where you need to say something that is factually false but supports those in power.
