Because he's only a third generation immigrant from Germany, obviously (slavery had already ended in the US by the time his grandfather arrived). Although, I'm sure if you go far enough back, some of his ancestors will have had slaves - just not during the era of the transatlantic slave trade (slavery has been a thing for thousands of years).

Honestly though, who cares about his ancestors? How does that affect his ability to serve as President? How is that relevant to anything at all?
