The small number people funneling huge sums of dark money into US politics own all of them. They really don't care who you vote for. Because they own every choice you have on an election ballot. They will get the policy and legislation they want no matter who you vote for. Your vote hasn't mattered for at least 4 decades.

You're blind to the point of it. The people who own the 2 political parties in the US don't give a shit about ideology. They just want to guarantee that they own the votes in Congress and the courts. It's a practical matter for them. They don't need a balanced landscape where each party has a extremists and moderates. They want infighting between factions in the 2 parties. All they care about is getting what they want from government and preventing any government policy that would prevent them from stealing the wealth of the nation.

The Reich Wing is actively on board with the corruption and has several extremist groups buried in the MAGA movement. MAGA is not monolithic. It's a cauldron of misfit ideologies and stupid people. Evangelical Christians who want a White Christian Theocracy. White Supremacists who want a White Christian Fatherland. Libertarians who want to live in chaos with no government. A gun cult who thinks everyone is trying to kill them and the answer is more guns. Anti vaxxers. Fascists. Isolationists. Militias of old fat men. These losers all landed in the Republican Party because no one else would tolerate them. And they can't even cooperate with each other. This is how the Republican Party gutted itself from within.

The Democrats don't have an equivalent for the crazies. The Reich Wing would say it's Progressives. But Progressives tend to be well educated and their policy ideas are at least rooted in facts and data. They also are able to negotiate and compromise. And they've never launched a violent assault on the Capital to overturn a free and fair election. The Democrats are simply spinless wimps who behave like it's still 1980 and they aren't trying to negotiate with batshit crazy fascists. But Democrats still take the dark money just like Republicans. They cave to fears of being "primaried" just like Republicans. That's why Democrats are complicit.

And that's all the 1% require to have control. Greedy politicians on both sides who want to keep their paycheck and status more than they want to serve their country and the citizens who elected them. They couldn't care less about ideology. Fascist, progressive, religious theocracy, none of it matters. What matters is that elected officials keep passing legislation that wipes out any middle class and transfers the wealth of this nation to a handful of Oligarchs.

Unfortunately it seems that way, but it was that way anyway with Republicans vs Democrats. Now it's a cult vs a loose base of affiliations because Democrats are so divided on their own talking points. It's the only reason MAGA was even able to take hold. There was no unified effort to get on the same page and shame MAGA back into hiding.

We have murders just about every week the we would not be having if Biden lost the election. Prices are still too high and we still have shortages at the supermarket. Our Air Traffic control system is no longer safe. Healthcare is a lot worse now than it was before Covid. Our kids are being failed by a liberal public school system and nobody cares as long as everyone gets to graduate whether or not they can read.
Most people can see the results already after only 6 months. It will take a long time to fix some of these systems but the groundwork has been laid and before the end of Trump's term there should be some real quantifiable results.
