Asia is a pretty big area with a diverse range of humans. To me Asian just means you have roots in a general area of the planet. Just like being European refers to a general area of the planet. But Mediterranean Europeans look different from Nordic Europeans. Africa is also not a small place. Africans vary in appearance from North Africa to Central Africa to East, West, and South Africa.

I guess it varies by region. For eg in the UK. The term Asian is mostly associated with South Asians. In stores in the Asian aisles you tend to find mainly grocery items representing South Asia. I guess it is because most Asians in the UK are of South Asian descent.

A and B. I think most people typically mean East Asians and sometimes Southeast Asians and Central Asians too by the term Asian, not South Asians, Middle Easterners, West Asians/Anatolians or people from the Caucasus region, even though technically all these regions are a part of the Asian continent.

They usually mean East Asian, Southeast as well. And we know the others are Asian too, especially South Asian, but yes I'd say the first thing that comes to mind is East Asians, Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans.

As far as I'm aware when Americans say it they mostly mean in and around China. When folks here in Britain say it, they mostly mean in and around India.  Anywhere else I wouldn't know.
