The charges were brought by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, a state-level entity, not the federal DOJ. The case was led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who charged Trump with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with hush money payments to Stormy Daniels.
Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York had previously investigated the matter but chose not to bring federal charges, which led some to view the state prosecution as a separate and distinct effort.

Trump is in the process of indicting criminals. They will be brought up on real charges instead of manufactured ones. Never went anywhere? He was involved in over 4,000 lawsuits in NY and elsewhere before 2016. His tax fraud suit alone cost 175 million. 25 million on Trump University, and that's just 2 out of 4,000. Look at the chart. It rose very little under Trump from 2016 to 2020, dipped at the start of Biden's admin, then rose SHARPLY from Trump's highest level to its highest mark ever. If you could read a graph, you'd see it started to dip again just after Inauguration Day, Feb 10th, when the "criminal in charge" started in with tariff talk and bashing neighbors and the world. As of April 7, 2025, it dipped back to Biden's highest mark, and is now just barely breaking above where it was on Inauguration Day.
So in 7 months, there's been ZERO growth under Trump. Nothing. Read the chart.
