Do you think there should be a regional currency system?

Going to 3 different countries with 3 different currencies, is a logistical nightmare. Ideally a universal currency would be best, but it's not practical, so I think the next best option is regional currencies, something like the Eurozone. Especially countries that travelers often group together. Like all of East Asia should have one currency. All of SE Asia. All of the Levant and Egypt. All of the Persian Gulf States. All the Caucasus and Maghreb countries. Southern Africa. East Africa. The eastern Caribbean. etc, etc...

The Euro is one such currency that is widely used in different countries and it does make things less of a piss take for consumers. That every time you have to convert through corrupt banking systems ALWAYS getting the lowest possible value for your currency that day is a pain in the arse.

No, given the problems the eurozone has had. I have a hard time, for example, seeing Singapore bailing out its neighbors.

Of course. The Euro and the Eurozone are undisputedly a success story. Even we Germans think so and we were quite the fanatics about our Deutsche Mark.
