Do you think Euro should be world currency?

I think first it might be important we are on a baseline of what a world currency is. In its simplest form it is just a currency traded freely without restriction, internationally. This is a lot of currencies.

The U. S dollar standa apart due to an agremeent called Bretton Woods where USA guarantees to buy back any dollars for its value in gold - this is for obvious reasons no longer possible or valid.

So today the dollar is the world currency based on two simple reasons. Legacy and trust.

It used to be, therefore it remains that. And it has been dependable, not always strong but overall dependable.

The advantage of a world currency? Globally it allows currencies to be easily exchanged. It does not need to be a specific currency - the UN could make one to replace it for example.

The advantage to controlling the world currency? Financial policies on easy-mode! Money issues? Print some more! The rest of the world will happily buy it, making the currency way more resitant. An incredible advantage!

So now the Dollar, with the current US government, is no longer dependable. There are also increasing trade restrictions placed that seeks to leverage the already astounding privilege it provides even further.

The world is upset because when you give someone a free 50% boost and they then turn around demanding a 75% boost, it is just plain rude.

So how has the dollar maintained its status? G7! Or rather, USA and Europe together with Australia, Japan and a few others. Why is it losing it? Alienating your friends, it turns out, means they get less serious about supporting you.

Short-term I doubt we will see it replaced. The BRICS model is a serious, and honestly better, contender but plagued by the same inherent unfairness of vetos and founder advantages that makes it unattractive for other superpowers.

At length I imagine a more refined BRICS like system, sponsored by UN will replace the dollar. If this happens next year or in the next 30 years is just down to how unfriendly the US decides to be.

I get why people are saying this, but Trump is going to be gone within 4 years, which is really not that long in the grand scheme of things - and then there should be a return to relative normality. If anything is going to replace the US dollar, it will be the Chinese Yuan, but that's not going to be any time soon.

I don’t think so. Because US forces any country to use USD as currency for International transactions.

It is an unofficial world currency already (after the U. S. dollar). But we don’t need many more countries joining the €uro, our central bank is busy enough as it is.

No. Fuck the EU New World Order. I'd rather go with BRICS than the EU. But I much prefer the dollar. And I do NOT want CBDC digital currency.
