Do you think a "Euro-Atlantic" market could be a good idea?

Since China is the USA's main competitor, and Americans and Europeans are trying to reduce their dependence on China, a common market like the EU's (without all the European institutions, I'm really talking about a market) could perhaps make this happen... Moreover, if we add the possibility that China could impose its hegemony on Asia and close the Asian market to Europeans and Americans, such a market could act as a counterweight. Although for the USA, such an eventuality (China's domination of Asia) also poses security problems.

I'm not saying that's what I want.
It's just an idea that crossed my mind lol

As in a free trade agreement? It might happen that a Sino Russo trade block does form in which case a Western trade block is sort of formed by default as a consequence. Against that though, the EU was seen as enabling Europe to stand up to US competition. You will know better how embedded that is in the EU concept and if it needs a 180 turn. I note UK/US negotiations started May 2020 and there has been no further since October 2020.

But politics matters. Australia US negotiations took less than 12 months. George W Bush reputedly said get it done. If Chinese hegemony threatens, it might just get done :)

China won't do anything that could jeopardize their trade, that would be suicide. And as long as the west has all the retarded laws and regulation that make industry prohibitable expensive, the west will still be reliant on China for production of virtually everything. Let's be honest here, no one would buy a keyboard for 5 times the price because it comes form Europe, even if it meant the money wasn't financing slavers and genocides. There's a reason why China can do fuck all about Taiwan, and a reason why the west will never seriously respond to China taking the South China Sea one inch at a time.

I think it would give the USA too much influence over Europe simply because of its size. At the minute it's too expensive to import from America and I can't see that improving with a new market.

But I do like how the map sides Ireland with Russia.

Europe and u. s. trade with esch other

france imports most from neighbor germany, and lots ftom belgium and u. s. i guess they import cars from germany and refined petroleum from u. s. and minor products from china.

I think it would be much better than continuing to do business with China.. Although, I don't know if closing Asia off would be good for any of their economies.. I don't know if China would go that far..
