Homelessness is getting much worse in the city of New York. Is this due to inflation or addiction?

democrat policies. All of a sudden it is okay to camp out on the sidewalk. I went there in 2008 and stayed in Manhattan. There were a few people sleeping on cardboard boxes at night but when the sun came up they were gone. The cops ran them off. Now they are not allowed to do their job and as a result there are people pitching tents in Central Park.
