How would you leave a company that's treated you unfairly in the past?

I have been treated unfairly in the past for things out of my control, but have since been vindicated. I am thinking of leaving with dignity and grace when I get the chance, though I also want to point out where things need to improve. Thoughts?

Leave on your own timeline when you find something better with no warning and no courtesies like 2 weeks notice, no exit interview, no big farewell. Do not entertain counter offers. Just move on. Actions have consequences. They created the dynamic. Why feel obligated to observe social constructs they felt free to violate?

A lot of employers feel free to walk employees to the door on a Friday afternoon with no warning. So if that's their choice, they obviously do not care about an orderly transition of knowledge or work. Why should employees feel or behave differently?

Ooooh, because they won't give you a good recommendation! Bullshit. The one thing employers respond to is the threat of a labor lawsuit. Most employers are not gonna trash you. HR is charged with a policy which says they can confirm you worked there from X date to Y date and that's it. If they trash you, it opens the door to defamation of character in the courts. They just don't care enough about you to take that risk.

If you want to leave, just leave. No need to point out where things need to improve. If you leave it will no longer be your business.

Also, try not to burn your bridges. You'd be surprised what a small world it is. Your reputation follows you.

As much as it would pain me to do so, I would leave with dignity and grace like you said. It makes them look bad and makes you look like a true winner! You would be doing the right thing by walking out with as much professionalism as possible.

I did and sued them and would sue the union who didn't do their job.
