2. Being white doesn’t automatically make a white person racist. I know that’s a tough concept for many MAGA fuckwits to grasp. You become racist when you refuse to acknowledge the past, downplay the harm done, or try to shift the blame elsewhere so you won’t “feel guilty”—and therefore don’t have to feel empathy for people you judge to be unworthy of respect and empathy for whatever stupid reason.

3. This means you must:
a) acknowledge the past as it truly was, in all its ugliness
-and
b) do whatever is in your power to prevent its noxious effects from continuing.

As for the Irish stuff, yes, it has to be acknowledged, but it's not exactly the top priority. There was a time that WASPs were so racist that they used to see some groups of whites as inferior.

However, you can’t expect people to feel sorry for you above all else if you walked away from a car accident with a broken finger while your passenger was left paralyzed from the waist down for life.
