The Chinese have managed to out number the Americans and other technologically advanced nations in fighter jets, warships, electric vehicles and just about everything else.

Western corporations couldn't send all of their manufacturing to Asia fast enough in the 1990''s and 2000's and 2010's. Because cheap labor meant higher profits. But the Chinese weren't stupid. They were learning... fast. Sure they stumbled a bit. And they bent the rules on intellectual property a lot, LOL. What did you expect? But they didn't give up. And now, 35 years after the "offshoring" money grab started, China has the knowledge, the labor force, and the momentum. And well... fuck us... for handing it to them on a silver platter!

Our greed and arrogance was our downfall. It's a story as old as humanity.

Better equipment and half century of innovation and building up to it.

Quality has it's place and quantity has its place.

Look at a new medical drama like "the pitt." They are ripping through PPE equipment leaving every patient and getting new ones for every patient 100s of times. It's important to do so to keep everyone safe. Then you also have high end medical equipment then the question how many and how quick can they process people.

China is doing exactly what their Asian neighbor Japan did after WW2. When I was a kid all the cheap crap came from Japan and then they morphed from a manufacturing country to technologically advanced country. Their automotive plants rely heavily on robotics and they outsource a lot of manufacturing to other countries that can't be done by robots. Many automakers are now going to Chinese manufacturers for their technology.

The latter depends on your military supply chain and, in particular, how much you’re spending.

As for the consumer goods, yes, it benefits from cheap and slave labor, few environmental restrictions, government subsidies, and cheap energy, as well as foreign investment.
