This is either someone you share a room with or just someone you share an apartment/house/etc. with.

By myself, without question. If I live alone and want to socialize, I can go somewhere else.. but if I have a roommate and want to be left alone, I'm screwed! Plus it might get a bit awkward bringing people back to the house, and having to explain the 3rd wheel -- or be it, if they bring someone back. I don't want to have to make rules about noise or shower time. I don't want to have to wait for their stuff to dry before I can do my load. I don't want anyone messing with my kitchen.

I don't want to wonder who is coming in at 2am. If I live alone, I have the only key. If someone walks in in the middle of the night, I can eviscerate them first and ask questions later. If I live with a roommate, I have to HOPE it's him/her, and not someone who has their key. I have to get out of bed to make sure I'm not being robbed. Screw that.

I want to be able to stay up and study with the light on until well into the night before midterms, and crash at 6pm in the evening afterward. I want to be able to masturbate without locking the door. I want to be able to shower without worrying about someone stealing all of the hot water. I want to be able to brush my teeth without someone taking the bathroom while I'm gone; I pace while I brush.

I don't want anyone else living in my house with me, unless I'm getting regular sex from them. And if that's the case, "roommate" is not the word we use to describe that person.

I've had roommates for the last few years, I didn't mind because they were my friends so it was just like having your friends over all the time. I'm living back with my parents now, but I think when I move out I'd like to live alone. I don't want to deal with people who are not my close friends, and I like having the whole house to myself to put my stuff where I want it. I also play instruments so I don't want to have to be quiet for anyone.

I'd love to live by myself. but unfortunately that's not possible since rent is pretty expensive. I just like my privacy, I also like to walk around in my underwear a lot and that would be sort of awkward ha ha the only person I'd feel comfortable living with is my sister since she wouldn't care about that and we already know the other since birth so no little annoying habits would come out unexpectedly. I dunno, despite that if I had to pick a room mate I didn't know, it would actually be a guy (I'd just have to make sure I was fully dressed all the time lol), I get along with guys so much better than girls, and I'd sort of be worried that girls would take my things without asking and be bitchy, whereas guys are just more relaxed and I don't feel like I need to pretend to be super girlie around them.

I tried to help a friend out when he was in a tough spot and let him live with me and it was horrible. It was supposed to be for 3 months and ended up being for 7. He leeched off of me (didn't pay for anything), was dirty, disrespectful.. and I missed having my own space. After that, I've decided to never have a roommate again.

Rather live by myself. My housemate is okay but his friends p*ss me off and he's always late with rent which puts me in awkward financial positions. He always has weird girlfriends too, ones who can't speak english very well and they use my things :c

Being alone is much better if you can afford it. Friends can still come over when you want but when you want to be alone its so much easier.

And that is just considering a flatmate, a literal roomate...that would be absolute hell.

I live with three other girls now in an apartment, we each have our private rooms so it isn't that bad. Although I love time to myself occasionally I'd never want to live alone I enjoy their company way to much, we all get along pretty well and there's always something to do. (:

I don't think I could have had a roommate. I'm glad I didn't need one.

Well, I have a permanent roommate now. She's my wife.

But before then I lived alone. I had a subsidized apartment so the rent was easy to deal with.

depends on the roommate. but generally, I like having my own room/being by myself. Having a roommate but having separate rooms would be ideal, that way I will actually talk to someone and not be a complete introvert.

I'd probably get bored w/o a roommate, but I can be a bit territorial when it comes to my stuff. It'd have to be somebody I was really cool with if we were gonna be roomies :x

I like having someone else there. it's just a bit less lonely that way and you have a witness should something ever happen. Plus I mean me pesronallly, I've never had a bad roommate, course I've only had 2 roommates in my entire like but yeah
