Trump says he will fire the governor of Michigan because "she did something very bad". Yet, what she did is exactly what he did when he falsified his assets when he wanted to secure loans in the US from Capitol One and another bank I forget. This was brought up in courts, Michael Cohen testified under oath that he had done this, and I had read about it long before it became public knowledge while following financial news about him. He not only did this with banks, he made his assets appear bigger than what they actually were, he also hid most of this assets when it was time to file his taxes, so that he would only have to pay so much of tax.

She won't step down, so he says he will fire her. Maybe he has to step down too, because he did this in the past, not too long ago. Who knows how much he has tricked the gov't into not paying proper taxes.

While we are on the subject of crimes--about Washington DC--- if he is so concerned about Washington DC having so much crime and bringing the military there--why doesn't he himself resign? He's a felon. He brought those tanks in to protect himself.

No, Donald Trump did not say he would fire the governor of Michigan. The confusion may arise from two separate incidents involving different individuals named "governor."

First, in August 2025, President Donald Trump stated he would fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, a former Michigan State University economist and the first Black woman to serve on the Fed’s board, if she did not resign over allegations related to mortgage applications for properties in Michigan and Georgia. He said, “I’ll fire her if she doesn’t resign because what she did was bad,” during remarks on August 22, 2025.

Second, in October 2020, Trump denied ever saying he wanted to “lock up” Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer. At a rally in Muskegon County, Trump's supporters did repeatedly chant "lock her up" when the president brought up Whitmer. He never directly said that he wanted to lock HER up, and instead said "lock 'em all up."

Therefore, Trump did not say he would fire the governor of Michigan. He did, however, threaten to remove a Federal Reserve governor with Michigan ties over mortgage-related allegations.

There's so many far more despicable things that Trump actually DID say, which are completely true.

Right, I wrote the governor of Michigan when in fact she is a member of the Federal reserve board of governors. Mea culpa. I don't know how I thought she was Michigan's governor. I think my thinking was based on Trumps's feuds with the mayors of Los Angeles, NY, Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington DC, all of whom are African American and all of whom Trump has told he will be sending Nat'l guard troops to these cities. So thanks for the clarification.
However, my point was-- his complaint to remove her (which would cause chaos in our already dwindling economy was because she had committed mortgage fraud. Again, this is ironic, because he did worse with American banks here and nothing was ever done. It was just discovered.

Lisa Cook is not the governor of Michigan. She is a governor of the Federal Reserve. It has been revealed that she falsified a mortgage application. Having a governor who is indicted for a felony could adversely effect the public's perception of the Board of Governors. Trump wants her to resign.
I suppose that since President Trump is working hard to get interest rates lowered so people can afford home mortgages again and businesses can make investments. Chairman Powell has been resisting this even though there is plenty of evidence that the economy is improving and interest rates should be lowered.
Appointing more of his own people to the Board is one way of doing this.
