5.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Outrage implies surprise.
I was not surprised. Assassinations - attempted or successful - are becoming the new mass shootings. There will be more.
As far as assassinations and political violence from the left, it shouldn't be surprising either since it was coming from the right earlier.
There comes a point in every person - and every culture - says "enough is enough" and being genteel stops. For example, the bombings of Tokyo, Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki during WW II. The war needed to come to an end and being genteel was just prolonging it. People are no different... they put up with shit for so long and then they snap saying "No more!". A good example is divorce.
Well, many on the left - especially the young who are easily idealistic and think in more black and white terms - have been fed up with the shit on the right.
And now the young people on the right will escalate as well.
The adults in the room - the few politicians left who are functional adults - need to start showing some bipartisanship and cool things down. Without it, we will devolve to Israeli society. I am reminded on the 1995 assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the 1981 assassination of Anwar Sadat in which their own countrymen assassinated them for capitulating to the other side. Sadat and Rabin both won, on separate occassions, Nobel Peace Prizes for treaties they signed involving Israel and Egypt (Sadat) and the PLO (Rabin).
So, I expect what could happen is that things get so divisive that any attempts at cooling things down to reduce that divisiveness may lead to more assassinations. I hope not...
... but do expect more assassinations for the rest of Trump's term, at least.

3 moHow can you not be? Regardless of your political bias, murdering a man because you disagree with his views is reprehensible.
This violence only serves to fuel the Right.
I have to say the media attention is disproportionate compared to Representative Hortman who was murdered alongside her husband not so long ago, where the accused allegedly had a political agenda behind their killings. The President only said the standard of seeking to prosecute the perpetrator but didn't pay tribute to the Hortmans' children.05 Reply- 3 mo
@Speaking_Frankly "This violence only serves to fuel the Right". Serves to fuel the Right to do what, exactly? We do pay tribute to the dead, "but didn't pay tribute to the Hortman's children" ? What do you intend to insinuate by that kind of comment? Not to difficult to determine what side of the political spectrum you represent.

@Bricealan You're not quite as perceptive as you give yourself credit. I'm actually more of a centrist. Do keep trying harder.
Asker3 moDifference between that and publicly executing someone with thousands of witnesses and cameras.

@Bricealan Wasn't the Hortman's also killed by a leftist? I could be thinking about a different case and too lazy to look it up... feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I sort of need an example of the right killing the left, so I can stop feeling like it's just the left that does all the killing. - 3 mo
@Bricealan Nevermind I was thinking of the right case. The killer was a raging leftist bruah. That was a bad example to use...

3 moNot particularly, I do wonder if it was actually some leftist who did it or someone else. People have mentioned the Mossad even having a reason. Charly Kirk talked about the October attack saying it was allowed to happen and that all of Israel's border is always guarded round the clock. Charly Kirk might have ran into trouble for actually caring about Israel and what happens to people there. I don't think their government is on their side. I suspect that in a lot of cases attempts are being made to actually stir up antisemitism. The Mossad probably works for the global banking cartels.

of course, fbi soon released that the ammunition left behind also had tranny rights messages.
Charlie's only gay side was facing israel. And actually it was the only side where he did not hold up his "prove me wrong, i am listening". - 3 mo
@Hardon-Collider No one has any proof but the shooter took him out like a pro.

3 moA guy was shot for exercising free speech to discuss political difference rather than shoot each other over disagreements. So that means Republicans automatically win the debate. Democrats have admitted they have no good ideas and all they can bring to the table is violence.

3 moI don’t get outraged. Outrage is irrational. Then you’re no better than the lunatic leftists who do these things, support violent criminals and deliberately unleash them onto the world with malicious intent.
They need us to come unglued and let their futile attempts to ignite a civil war come to fruition. That way they can blame Drumpf despite the fact that it’s literally always some radicalized leftist lunatic who resorts to violence because they can’t tolerate simple facts.00 Reply 1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Everybody with any sense of decency, or humanity, should be outraged because some fucking halfwit extremist decides to murder someone he disagrees with.
According to some here and elsewhere, it is justifiable to kill those that you don't like or have some disagreement with?

3 mono i'm actually more scared that while there's some condemnation, there's actually quite a few voices who are actually condoning what happened. and those are a rising number of fanatics that seem to have no social back pressure whatsoever, which i find quite concerning.

3 moVery much so. Coming on the heals of seeing the full video of the training lady killed on the train because of leftist policies and now Charlie Kirk shot in the neck by (most likely) a leftist….. it’s starting to make my blood boil a little.

More information is coming out. We are getting a clearer picture of the shooter. He wasn’t a Trump supporter.

Written on one of the bullet casings “Hey Fascist! Catch!” No MAGA is going to call Charlie Kirk a fascist. That’s a leftist term for us on the right.
- 3 mo
My apologies - you may be partially right. I should have checked first. I found these sources:
At a state press briefing, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox described inscriptions found on ammunition collected by investigators; Reuters’ write-up of that briefing notes an inscription akin to “…fascist… CATCH” on a casing recovered from the scene.
Reuters
TIME, citing a probable-cause affidavit filed in Utah state court, reports specifics: the fired casing was engraved “Notices bulges OWO what’s this?”, and three unfired casings bore “Hey fascist! Catch! ↑→↓↓↓,” “Oh bella ciao bella ciao bella ciao ciao ciao,” and “If you read this you are gay lmao.” - 3 mo
The meaning of it is that he was a sick individual. Anyone who can take a life like this is. He was made to believe Charlie Kirk was evil.
The reality is (no matter if you liked Charlie or not) he was just a guy willing to sit down at a table and have a conversation with people who believed differently than he did. - 3 mo
Charlie was a terrible racist, apparently, and because of this alone, it does not surprise me that someone took a shot at him and unfortunately hit and killed him. Speech has consequences.
That said, I now know that the supposed etchings on the bullet may or may not be true once again, based on new information, but more importantly, the shooter's family (the father turned him in) now says that the shooter was a strong MAGA supporter, as is most of the family.
This is all making less and less sense. - 3 mo
The family was Republican. The shooter I guarantee was radicalized in college because that’s what colleges do these days.
BUT he was also mentally ill. You have to be to do what he did.
And as far as speech having consequences, we have the first amendment, which gives us the right to free speech, which means there should not be any consequences especially not doled out by some mad men with a gun.
As for Charlie being a racist, give me one example of what he said or done that was racist? - 3 mo
I realize we have the right to free speech, but again - in the real world - speech has consequences. A prudent person would have recognized that and modulated his verbiage accordingly lest his life be ended by "a madman with a gun".
As to his racism:
He said that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a “huge mistake”, claiming it “created a permanent DEI‐type bureaucracy” - Wikipedia
He called the legal framework of the Civil Rights Act “an anti‐white weapon.” - Wikipedia
There is quite a bit more, but I trust these two will suffice for now.
He said that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a “huge mistake”, claiming it “created a permanent DEI‐type bureaucracy” (DEI = diversity, equity, inclusion).
Wikipedia
He also called the legal framework of the Civil Rights Act “an anti‐white weapon.” - 3 mo
What you seem to be saying about speech is that it is free but we need to be careful of what we say because we might upset someone with a gun. Free is free. And yes I can scream fire in a crowded movie theater if there is a fire. I can’t say something that can cause harm to others that’s a separate crime like reckless endangerment.
As for the racist part Charlie was correct. All these civil rights act did was hurt black people under the idea that it would help.
Look at welfare designed to help people less fortunate than you or I (I’m speculating, I don’t know your income). In NJ as long as you make less than x amount of dollars you get $800 food stamps. This is a real example from someone I know. This persons boss wanted to give her a good raise which would have brought her income up $200 a month. She turned it down because that increase would have pushed her over the limit and she would have lost $800 a month food stamps. There is an example of a law that seems to be there to help bus actually keeps poor people (mostly black) down. That law was deigned to keep people poor. Poor people are easier to control. - 3 mo
By the way… we disagree and no one is taking shots at the other. Disagreements is how problems get solved.
- 3 mo
I am indeed saying that we need to be careful who we upset with our speech because words are not worth being killed over. I don't think Charlie was thinking in the same economic terms you are relative to welfare or blacks in general.
I contend that the man was a racist, which is not unusual these days. So be it.
Our own disagreements seem benign to me. - 3 mo
We are sane enough to agree to disagree. In the grand scheme of things each others views will not effect each other very much.
By the way this is in the news now….
A former high school friend of Charlie Kirk's assassin, Tyler Robinson, described him as
"pretty left on everything" and said he was the "only member of his family that was really leftist."
Also Tyler was dating and living with a trans-woman (a man who identifies as a woman).
Anonymous(36-45)3 moyou have to be at least a little. Seeing the REAL nazis at work. Assassinating political opponents just like the old days. Tired of being called a nazi for supporting Trump, while the people opposing him are resorting to murder and political assassinations. That's some real nazi type shit right there and it is not okay.
