Charlie Kirk, an influential figure in conservative politics known for mobilizing young voters and who was close to President Donald Trump, died Wednesday after being shot at an event in Orem, Utah, according to Trump. He was 31.

Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University as part of Turning Point USA’s first event on a tour of college campuses. The university said in a statement that a single gun shot was fired at the event. A spokesperson for the University told the New York Times that there is no suspect currently in custody for Kirk’s shooting. An earlier statement from the school reported that a suspect had been taken into detained, but was determined not to be the shooter. Utah Valley University locked down its campus and cancelled classes for the remainder of the day, the school announced.

I see this as another tragic preventable death caused by the hands of a hateful, spiteful, pathetic loser as I do with all political violence and all gun violence victims in the country.

We have an epidemic of mental health, gun violence, political violence, and too many crisis situations that need to be addressed and fixed.

There were multiple failures of Utah Leadership. I heard there wasn’t enough security , there wasn’t enough patrolling , there wasn’t enough making sure the roof access was closed off or have a guard on standby , and he was out in the open.
There was even a failure to capture the right suspect, I think they put into custody two people of interest though the killer is still out there. It is a disgrace.

Charlie Kirk was a young , conservative , white , male with a prominent future ahead of him in political scene especially among young white men saying their conservative talking points in a way that no one else did. You are allowed to speak out , say opinions , peaceful and patriotically make your voice heard however rioting, shooting, killing, death threats, plotting and scheming aren’t ways to solve nothing. Rest in peace to Charlie Kirk.

We need to come together on this and admit there have been sh—tings at Synagogues, Churches, Night Clubs and Gay Bars, Las Vegas Strip, Schools, College Campuses, Journalists, and Political Figures, etc.

It has no place in America and we can fix it if we come together.
The more we drag our heels, the worse it will get. We need to lower the temperature on both sides, pass legislation, be willing to hear and see one another’s perspective, and be able to fix the mental health crisis too. We have the data and we have the know how, let us begin to fix it so, no one is a victim of gun violence or political violence ever again.

First I am not an American to be clear.

To be clear whilst I thought Charlie Kirk was a excellent debater, I did not think his reasoning was necessarily superlative. It was however much superior to those who chose to challenge him.

He always played the ball not the man. I'm not sure if that is just an Aussie idiom but it means making injuring your opponent the objective of the game. In a political setting it is to vilify an opponent rather than cogently counter an argument.

Vilification has always been part of Left wing politics from inception. Marx was very good at it; he and Engels would chortle over their 'bombs'. Violence was part of their politics also with them organizing an attempted assassination.

More than anything I am disturbed at how the Left - globally not just in the US - is reaching reaching back into it's violent past. I won't attempt to justify here but Facism and National Socialism were Left wing political philosophy along with Lenin/Stalin communism.

It was extremely disturbing to see the US Left regretting only the inaccuracy of Butler and the incompetence of the second attempt. Not to mention violent destruction of property.

i'm angry. upset. he was a very smart man. you did not have to agree with him, but he knew how to speak up for what he thought was right and what he believed in. he brought solid facts and never had a tantrum at anyone because of different ideologies. i loved watching him debate. and i don't care what you think about me, but i do support him. i was pretty sure he was going to run for president one day too.

There is supposedly another suspect in the pipeline in some manner or other.

But, no one should be shot and killed no matter what opinions they espouse, or whether I like their opinions, politics or not.

But will the shooter ever be found? The ID of him I heard on NPR this morning was sketchy at best: white tennis, black T shirt and pants, and "college aged." Very vague.

Law enforcement is staying mum on who, what and where, it seems, so they can close on in this person. If no one is caught in the next week or so, I wonder if anyone will be.

My guess is this person who did this has no record of any crimes of any kind. No fingerprints on file. Nothing. And has disappeared like the wisp of smoke that he was.

Pretty tired of it. I grew up seeing the hateful, wrongful demonization of people on the right. "Sexist, racist, homophpbic, transphobic, supremacist, xenophobe, nazi, fascist." And I've been saying the entire time this leads to violence. You start with a level of decency and sympathy for those acting in ignorance, but you lose that after nearly 2 decades of warning them. These people on the left think they want this, but they don't. And at this point, I don't care. You guys did this to yourself.

And to nearly all of you who didn't advocate for this, most of you saw it brewing and you said nothing. Kirk offended both sides of the political spectrum. He got some things correct like calling out trannies for being mentally ill, but got other things wrong. For instance putting Jewlandia before America. And then there is his debating style. He debated college students who weren't well versed in the topic and weren't good at public speaking. Moreover, he always set them up using if/then logic statements. Anyone who has taken a critical thinking or logic course will tell you the limits of using if/then statements.

The end result of Kirk's assassination is that it's going to galvanize people, not just the Left, but people who don't identify via the Left/Right paradigm to take serious actions against communists, the Left, et al. For instance, I predict that anyone wearing a Che shirt will be denied service, expelled from university, and ostracized. Anyone promoting communist ideas will be denied employment. Any business who employees such people will have to better screen psychotic employees who espouse any of this nonsense if they want to stay in business. Ultimately, the environment will become so hostile that liquidation of the Left will happen.

In regards to communists cheering Kirk's death, this is common and expected in warfare. America did this at the end of WW2. Look at how people reacted at the death of Osama bin Laden in May 2012 - people were out in the streets cheering. I know if all these Jewlandia Firsters were taken out, I'm not crying over their deaths. I'm going about my business. So to anyone claiming, "Oh it's not nice to celebrate someone's death." You need to around, it's common and I'm sure these same people would be cheering if Biden died in office.
