Despite its recent increase, however, left-wing terrorism is not nearly as common today as it was in the 1960s and early ’70s. Those years marked the height of groups such as the Weather Underground and the Symbionese Liberation Army, best known for kidnapping the newspaper heiress Patty Hearst. In the ’80s and early ’90s, left-wing terrorism declined while jihadist and right-wing terrorism rose, particularly in the forms of anti-government and white-supremacist violence.
Following that trend, according to our analysis, violence on the left accounted for four plots and attacks from 1994 to 2000, compared with 144 on the right. That difference narrowed in the following decade, but the right continued to account for significantly more attacks and killings than did the left.
The year 2016 was a turning point for left-wing terrorism, even as right-wing incidents remained much more common. Trump’s political ascent and the expansion of the MAGA movement seem to have reenergized left-wing violent extremism, which accounted for 37 incidents from 2016 to 2024, most of them motivated by either anti-government or partisan sentiment
There are “studies” out there that claim that right wing violence greatly out number left wing violence.
The interesting thing was they counted a gang of 8 killing one of their own gang members as 8 right wing violence. They counted domestic abuse as right wing violence. One guy arrested for tax evasion was counted as right wing violence.
On the flip side the 2020 riots with BLM and Antifa wasn’t counted. When Antifa said we have a Trump supported here and shot him in the head…. That wasn’t counted.
In other words… the study was a total sham.
The past 5 or 6 school shootings were all trans people. 2 attempts on Trump and of course Charlie Kirk. Yes the left can’t win a debate they turn to violence. They can’t win an election they turn to violence.
Even the few examples the left use aren’t exactly what they claim. The hammer attack on Paul pelosi? That was an attack by a gay lover.
You get the idea. Studies are only as good as the people who do them.
It's true. If you dig into the numbers, the "studies" are more worried about the victim's race vs the perpetrator's political affiliation.
Antifa riotous behavior is not political violence; school shootings are not political violence.
Tax evasion? Domestic violence? Oh please cite these incidents of persecution of conservatives.
@DrPepper12 "Antifa riotous behavior is not political violence;" - Spare us, they are nothing but Marxist, and they mastered the art of "agit-prop".
Why doesn’t the asshole in the Whitehouse declare proud boys a terror group? Oh I forgot, because they support him
