Why do we get so hung up on left vs right when the real problem is authoritarianism?

Words matter, especially the words of people in positions of influence (e. g., the media and politicians). What the leftist media has been putting out in recent years has led to the epidemic we are seeing of hate and political violence on the left. At some point we need to say enough is enough.

The left isn't authoritarian, but the right claims they are. The left has not sent thugs into the streets to terrorize legal residents, suggested that police should abuse detainees, called security to violently remove protesters, attempted to ban books or prevent criticism from entertainers.

for example if you don't believe in abortion, the other side automatically believes you're out to oppress women and therefore they try to oppress you first
