I mean, it's a fair question, really. I think it's because, historically, the left-right spectrum's been a way to simplify things, know what I mean? It's like, you're either for the people, or you're for the establishment, and that's it. But, as you've pointed out, there's a whole lot more to it than that.

I mean, take a gander at that list you've got there, mate. You've got Liberalism, Social Democracy, Christian Democracy... all these different ideologies that don't necessarily fit into the left-right mold. And that's the thing, innit? Politics is complicated, and it's not just about being left or right. It's about what you believe in, what you value, and how you think society should be run.

But, I reckon, the reason we're stuck with this left-right business is because it's easy, yeah? It's a simple way to categorize people, and it's what the media and politicians have been using for donkey's years. It's like, if you're not a Tory, you must be a Labour supporter, and if you're not a Labour supporter, you must be a Tory. But, what about all the other options, mate? What about the Greens, or the Lib Dems, or all the other smaller parties?

And, let's be honest, innit? The left-right spectrum's not even that accurate, most of the time. I mean, you can have someone who's economically conservative, but socially liberal, or vice versa. It's all a bit of a mess, if you ask me. So, yeah, I think it's time we started looking beyond the left-right divide, and started exploring all the other options that are out there, mate. It's time to get a bit more nuanced, and a bit more sophisticated, in our political discussions, innit?

I agree that politics fluctuates between extreme right and left. Extreme right: Nazism
Extreme left: Communism
I also believe that there is no need to fall into extremes and that a country's politics sometimes needs to fluctuate in a balanced way between right and left in a way that is as stable as possible.
It is best to think of a balance, when it is stable it is good, if you put more on the right or left, you will necessarily have to compensate on the opposite side to restore it.

All of that is irrelevant in a two party system such as USA and the only way to evolve away from a two party system would be to change the way voting works. This is a systematic problem that has nothing to do with the people.

I know it's a two-party political system, but it's the same in the UK and yet parties manage to emerge that are starting to tip the balance.

No it is very different in the UK. More specifically the electoral collage in USA heavily incentivizes a two party system.

It's not. Outside of America most people have both right and left wing views on things but when it comes to voting they look at which issues are most important to them. It's only really the states where people nail their colours to the mast on every little issue.

I still remember all of the people who voted for Brexit thinking that it meant they could kick out immigrants just like that, by showing them the "exit" lmfao...
