As November 1st approaches, you will be bombarded with lies from the GOP and Mike Johnson about how "it's the Democrats fault that you won't have food stamps and other services beginning today". Ad naseum. Here's the simple truth:
The Dems have zero power and even less leadership, but they DO hold ONE CARD -- The Obamacare subsidies. The subsidies, paid for by our taxes, are the reason why the premium of a healthy person under 35 is $100-$200 a month, and a family of 4 has a $300-$500 monthly premium. HOWEVER, these subsidies expire on Jan. 1, 2026, and the GOP doesn't want them renewed (because they don't a shit about your healthcare). Without the subsidies, Obamacare will effective end, and be replaced with the same plan the GOP has had for the past 50 years... NOTHING.
Rates are now through the roof and unaffordable to all. insurance companies are sending out NEW PREMIUM notices based on there being NO SUBSIDIES. Healthy singles now pay $800 a month, families $1,500 - $2,000. No one can afford this.
The Dems can NOT budge on this, and shouldn't HAVE TO. The GOP will LIE and make it sound like all of a sudden they care about the people who NEED food stamps and other vital services, and the Dems do not. Your GOP Reps SHOULD BE VOTING for you to have care that's affordable. Their insurance is FREE!! WHY are they voting to end coverage you can afford? his is ONLY CARD the Dems have left, and it's truly for the good of all, ESPECIALLY for people in red states where your Reps are voting against you.
The other obvious reason is that the GOP wants to delay the swearing in of AZ Rep Adelita Grijalva because she will vote to release the Epstein files.
These are the ONLY reasons for the shutdown. Everything else is pure distraction, and total bullshit. I don't expect magats to understand or acknowledge this, but that's not our fault. Keeping the subsidies HELPS you, maga-dolts! Everyone else - KNOW the truth, people.
