The GOP. It's ALWAYS the GOP. I am 62 years old and NOT ONCE in my memory have the Democrats ever threatened a government shutdown.

The GOP could just write a budget you know. Like a normal, functional government. They have the votes.

There's a difference between a filibuster versus having the votes and being obstructionist.
For instance, suppose the Senate is in the hands of one party and House is in the hands of the other party. Often, it is that house of Congress that is opposite the President that may go against whatever bill the other house passes. With budgeting, it normally hasn't been a big thing until roughly the last 30 years when the New Gingrich and the GOP started their Contract On... uh, Contract With America in 1994. That's when real obstruction for the sake of obstruction began.

With a filibuster, that's just a delay tactic used by the minority party. Generally, they're going to lose anyway.

Both political sides pat themselves on the back if they can possibly reduce the deficit.

Imagine you've just been in a horrible accident and you're lying on the side of the freeway bleeding to death.

Do you want the rescue people to tell you that they are pretty sure they can reduce the bleeding or that they can stop the bleeding?

Balance the fucking budget!

You and I don't even have a choice in the matter. We make what we make and that's how much we can spend.

I don't understand. The question was who's at fault in this allegedly imminent shutdown. Your response was that both parties are responsible for the impending shutdown. My question is why and your response is that they should balance the budget. Am I missing something?

This is not new. These threats happen all the time and they always choose to not shut down the government. It's just a game so don't worry about it.

It is the democrats in the senate that is holding this up. They will not sign it unless Republican Senators stop voting in agreement to President Trump's policies. Chucky called Republicans" those bastards".
